God's GREAT Power, Mercy, and Grace

For the WORD OF GOD is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. (Hebrews 4:12)

Several years ago, a young girl named Katie left an Amish community, located about 25 miles east of us. And like so many others, she wanted to know if she could move into our basement apartment while we help her get transitioned into her new culture. We said yes and Katie moved in. We immediately began to pray that God would use us in some way to reach her for the Kingdom of God but it seemed the more we prayed the more impossible it looked. The day came when Katie moved out on her own, still un-saved.

A few years went by and we sort of lost our connection with Katie and her family, when all of a sudden, out of no where, I received a very excited text message from Katie saying, Joe, I went to a church last Sunday and got saved, and I am getting baptized next Sunday. And dear reader, let me say this, I could write a book about all that has transpired since then, but in a nut shell, let me say this - it has been years since I have witnessed such a powerful change in any person's life, as we have seen in Katie.

As for us, well, we are completely humbled because of how the Lord used our family and ministry in a small way to help bridge the gap between Katie and the Living God of the Universe.

Katie's Testimony

As most of you know I am former Amish. I was 21 yrs. old when I converted. I felt like I got off the leash. I got into partying and drinking and had no idea where I was heading. I sure had my share of problems. At one point I was like I might as well enjoy life while I can. I couldn't figure out why things were going wrong for me. I felt like giving up and just living my life like I wanted to. To me that was the most negative thought I had ever had. That must have really hurt God's feelings. God created us in his own image. It hurts Him to see his children go down the wrong path. God loves us. He might not like what we do sometimes but He sure loves us.

I praise God everyday for how He touched my heart. It seems like He reached down and rescued me from trouble. God had a plan for me. I started going to church with my husband and two little boys. Now I am a born again Christian. I got baptized. We go to church every Sunday and Wednesday night. We are in a thirteen week "Experiencing God" class. I have learned a lot in the last four months. God has blessed us in countless ways.

I like to stay focused on God and watch where He is working in my life. It's amazing what God can do. Just when you think you can't do something like making a payment that is coming up, God reaches down and helps you. Isn't that awesome!! Last night my husband came home and handed me three hundred dollar bills. I looked at him and asked him what is was for. He said whatever you want to do with it. I asked him where he got it. He said someone gave it to me and it was a gift from God. All I did for that money was pray and ask God to help us. We didn't work for that money; it was just a blessing from God.

God works miracles. John 15:5 says, I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. This verse is so true; it means so much to me. All you have to do is talk to the Father and He will give you everything you need. It makes His day when he looks down and sees that we are studying His word and looking for wisdom. God is our light and if we follow that light we know we are on the right path. Jesus does not want us to lose the joys of the next life by focusing on the pleasures of this world.

I watch a church program on TV almost every day. They have all types of books, tapes and CD's that people can order. They have CD's called the 'Mark of the Beast'. The CD is free.

I hope that my testimony can help someone make changes in their own life and start following God. He has been good to me in so many ways that I want to share it with others. May God bless all that read this!
