FILLMOURE COUNTY, MN - A woman is accused of hitting an Amish buggy in Fillmore County, then fleeing the scene as it lay in the ditch with children injured.
Brittany Nicole Edgar, 22, of Spring Valley, faces charges of criminal vehicular operation, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, no insurance and providing false information.

PRESTON, MN — The woman accused of crashing into an Amish buggy and killing two children made her first court appearance Monday morning in Fillmore County.
Samantha Petersen, 35, of Spring Valley faces 21 charges including eight felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide, eight counts of felony criminal vehicular operation, two gross misdemeanor counts of driving while impaired, and misdemeanor counts of failing to provide proof of insurance and careless driving.

HANOVER TOWNSHIP, MI - A car crashed into a horse buggy over the weekend in Hanover Township, leaving two children injured.
On Sunday at 6 p.m., Michigan State Police (MSP) troopers were called out to the area of Moscow and Hatch Roads for a crash involving a Ford Escape and a horse buggy carrying nine people.

MONTCALM COUNTY, MI — Michigan State Police are searching for a truck driver accused of hitting an Amish buggy, then driving off.
It happened around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday on Senator Rd., south of Carson City in Montcalm County.
Three girls, ages 13, 10, and 8, were riding the buggy at the time. All were treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

According to the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office, on Friday, February 16, 2024, at approximately 10:05 p.m., the department received 911 calls indicating there was a crash in the 29000 block of County Road 1 in rural Spring Valley, Minn. The news release stated, “Initial reports indicated that a vehicle had struck and Amish buggy with several occupants.

An accident on the Wellsville/Andover town line resulted in severe injuries of the solo occupant of horse driven cart after being struck by a vehicle. The collision occurred in a 55 MPH stretch of Trapping Brook Road between the Lynch Casey Road and the Perkins Road.
The injured man was taken by Mercy Flight medical helicopter to an area trauma center.

Multiple people were injured when a truck and an Amish buggy collided Wednesday in the Meyersdale area, authorities said.
The crash happened at 3:33 p.m. in the 1200 block of St. Paul Road, according to a Somerset County 911 report.
The injured were taken to a hospital.

FILLMORE COUNTY, MN – The suspect driving the car in Friday’s Amish buggy crash was initially pulled over by a Fillmore County Sheriff’s Deputy and initially claimed to hit a deer, according to search warrants filed in the case.
According to the warrant, a deputy in Spring Valley pulled over the 32-year-old female suspect in Spring Valley after hearing of the crash. Her car had “substantial front-end damage with a passenger side headlight out and no tail lights.”

Six people were hospitalized Friday night after a hit-and-run involving an Amish buggy in southern Minnesota.
Deputies from the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a buggy on County Road 1 in rural Spring Valley just after 10 p.m., according to KTTC.

It happened just before 8:30 a.m. on US Highway 63, five miles south of Macon.

BARRINGTON, NY — A pickup truck and horse and buggy crashed after the horse was spooked in Yates County on Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office, a truck and buggy crashed at the intersection of Route 14a and Welker Road in the Town of Barrington shortly before 3 p.m. on Feb. 13.

LANCASTER, OH — A pickup truck crashed into an Amish buggy Sunday evening in Fairfield County near Columbus, killing one person, according to reports.
The State Highway Patrol tells WCMH Channel 4 the crash occurred just before 6 p.m. The patrol says a Ford F-350 pickup truck driven by a 72-year-old man hit the buggy’s horse on Township Road 322.

Sheriff Roy Torgerson said that the crash happened just after 9 p.m. in the Town of Greenwood outside of Hillsboro.

PRESTON, MN – The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office has wrapped up its investigation into last fall’s deadly traffic crash that claimed the lives of two young Amish children.
Sheriff John DeGeorge confirmed to KTTC, on Thursday afternoon, the case is now being reviewed by the Fillmore County Attorney’s Office. DeGeorge said it’s now up to the attorney’s office to decided if any criminal charges will be filed in connection with the September 25, 2023, crash in Sumner Township.
WATERTOWN, NY - The driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a buggy - killing two Amish children - pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of criminally negligent homicide.
Charlene Kring of LaFargeville entered the pleas in Jefferson County court. She was placed on interim probation for one year. Kring will be back in county court after her one-year probation term is up for final sentencing, but assuming she has no further issues with the law, Tuesday’s plea and interim sentence likely marks the end of the case.

It could have been a much worse outcome after a semi truck and horse and buggy collided north of Wingham, Ont. Tuesday afternoon.
Fortunately, Huron OPP said that there were only non-life threatening injuries following the collision around 3 p.m.

A 21-year-old man has died after a car struck his horse and buggy in Dufferin County on Friday.
Provincial police say the young man was taken to a local hospital, and then transported to a Toronto trauma centre, before he was pronounced dead.

OCEANA COUNTY, MI - Two Amish teenagers were struck by an SUV on Friday afternoon in Oceana County, leaving one dead and the other hospitalized, according to Michigan State Police.
State police said in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) that the crash occurred around 6:30 p.m. on Friday, on Skeels Road, west of 192nd Ave.
