All throughout the Bible, we are told to
read the Bible, to love it, to hide it in
our hearts, to live it, for parents to
teach it to their children, and more. The
Jews used Hebrew. Those in the New
Testament often read the Scriptures in
Greek, and later in Latin—they read
the Bible in their own common
language. About 500 years ago, it was
taught that the only acceptable
language in which to read the Bible
was Latin—a language that only the
priests could understand. Godly men
like John Wycliffe, William Tyndale,
and others risked and sometimes gave
their lives to translate and take the
word of God to the people in their own
everyday language that they could best
understand.
Jesus told us to search the Scriptures.
Isaiah tells us to seek out the book of
the LORD and read. The apostle Paul
tells us to study the Bible to show
ourselves approved unto God.
Have
you ever read through the entire
Bible?
Why not begin now? What
better way to begin the new year than
to read the Bible and study God’s
word? Below are a couple different
reading plans to help you read through
the Bible in one year. The plan on the
left begins with Genesis and has you
read straight through the entire Bible.
The plan on the right has Scripture
passages for each day from both the
Old and New Testaments.
Here is the
