The Bible Project
Provide English Bibles for Amish Families
Help put God’s Word into the hands of Amish men, women, and children in a language they can clearly understand.
Just $1.25 provides one New Testament. Larger gifts help reach entire communities.
Did You Know?
The Amish grow up with three different languages—but only one truly helps most of them understand God’s Word clearly.
Pennsylvania Deitch
Their mother tongue, spoken in the home. It is the everyday language of conversation and family life.
English
Learned during eight grades of schooling, English becomes their second language and is widely understood.
German
The language of their spiritual books—Bibles, hymn books, prayer books, and a few other readings. Yet of the three, German is often the least understood.
Why English New Testaments?
Because so few Amish people fully understand German, many do not read the Bible at all. When they receive an English Bible, suddenly the message becomes clear. Passages they have heard for years come alive in a language they can easily understand.
For the last several years, through the generosity of friends like you, MAP has been able to give out approximately 2,000 New Testaments every year. Each one is a personal opportunity for someone to meet Christ through His Word.
