Mentoring & Discipleship

So many of the ones who leave the Amish culture find themselves struggling with various issues that range from low self esteem, guilt, rejection, anger, bitterness, forgiveness and hurts from sexual and verbal abuse.

There’s also a great need to reach out to those who are in the midst of transitioning from their Amish culture to the outside world. This process can be difficult and is often very challenging for those who try to reach out and help.

It is for these reasons that Mission to Amish People is doing our best to set up support groups in various parts of the country, starting with our ministry location. These groups come together on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. At the MAP grounds, we have gone through discipleship material in the form of Bible studies; counseled many former Amish on how to have Christ-honoring marriages; hosted bi-weekly prayer meetings for those we are ministering to and for the ministry as a whole; and held one-on-one meetings to equip individuals desiring to walk closely with Christ and to bear one another’s burdens.

Financial Literacy Program

To honor God’s call to stewardship, We have a financial literacy program in order to educate the girls about how to handle finances in a way that glorifies God. Sandie, our bookkeeper, will meet with the girls one-on-one, and help the girls establish a budget, hold them accountable to living within their means, and guide them to reaching their financial goals.
