In His Time

At the time of this writing, we have not heard back from the owner of the property we made an offer on. We are praying, waiting on God, and trusting His timing.

We are also looking for the right person to help with bookkeeping, GED teaching, and other administrative needs. We have had a few interviews, but nothing has come together yet. If someone reading this feels God tugging at their heart, has strong administrative gifts, and would be interested in serving in this way, we would love to talk with you. We believe God will send the right person, at the right time, for His ministry.

God did send us some more volunteers. He also sent us two couples that are showing an interest in going out and helping us do ministry updates at supporting churches. For this, we are very thankful.

In the May Update, we shared that we have some goals in sight for the SonLight Club by the end of 2026. Last week, our staff and some volunteers gathered to celebrate The SonLight Club reaching 5,200 lessons sent out in one mailing with pizza and a full salad bar! We are so thankful for each child that is completing their lesson. Our goal is to reach 8,000 lessons in a single bi-monthly mailing.

A highlight of our day is when the SonLight Bible Club mail gets opened and a child indicates that they have trusted Christ as their personal Savior! Luke 15:10 tells us, “There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.” At the MAP office, we do a bit of celebrating as well. It might not be angelic… but it sure is fun. Click on the QR code to see a YouTube video featuring office staff and volunteers celebrating our new sisters and brothers in Christ!

The Plowman’s Academy is also growing. We are working toward having 100 students by the end of the year. We keep praying and mailing out lessons. God keeps building this ministry through His people. Thank you for being part of what He is doing.

Testimony from a New Beginning's Resident

Cindy came to New Beginnings in 2025. While she deeply appreciated the strong sense of Amish community, she struggled with cultural expectations. Leaving was not easy. Much of her family turned their backs on her, which brought deep hurt and made the transition painful.

At first, the freedom she experienced felt overwhelming. Cindy admits that she struggled to handle that freedom wisely and fell into many temptations. Yet even in those difficult moments, God was pursuing her heart.

The turning point came on a beach after a heated conversation with her brother. Feeling broken, she poured out her heart to the Lord. Through tears, she asked Jesus to come into her life and save her. In that moment, peace flooded over her. She became aware of the birds singing, the waves crashing, and the overwhelming goodness of God surrounding her.

Although Cindy had always believed God was a kind Father, her understanding of Him within the Amish culture was often tied to fear and rule-keeping. Now, she clings to the truth that she is “fearfully and wonderfully made” by God and treasures the personal relationship she has found with Him.

Since coming to New Beginnings, Cindy says she has grown much closer to the Lord and loves being surrounded by people who genuinely point her to Christ and encourage conversations about Him. She is grateful for the support, care, and love she has experienced.

New Beginnings has helped Cindy build positive habits and gain practical life skills. When asked what advice she would give to someone considering coming to New Beginnings, Cindy says:

“Instead of worrying about your license and learning to drive, look for your Savior! Finding your Savior is a lot better than getting your driver’s license!”

Watching God Change a Life

This past year has been a blessing to witness firsthand. On October 21, 2024, a young Amish man named Isaac stepped out in faith and left the Amish community. On a Sunday afternoon, he arrived at our home carrying very little materially, but like many who leave, he was carrying a heart full of uncertainty, questions, and fears about the future.

For those who have never experienced Amish culture, leaving is not simply changing churches or moving to another town. It often means leaving behind family, lifelong friendships, familiar traditions, and the only way of life you have ever known. Many who leave struggle deeply with loneliness, culture shock, and learning how to function in an entirely different world.

Over the past several months, it has been a joy for our family to watch Isaac grow. We have seen him learn and adjust to many things that most people take for granted. From learning everyday life outside the Amish to growing spiritually and personally, God has been faithful every step of the way.

One of the greatest blessings has been watching him become more confident and settled over time. The first days and weeks can often feel overwhelming for those leaving the Amish, but through Christian fellowship, encouragement, and discipleship, we have seen God steadily work in Isaac’s life.

Then, last Saturday, we witnessed another major milestone. Isaac got married! Seeing this young man, who arrived at our house less than a year ago, facing an uncertain future, now standing at the altar beginning a new life with his wife, was a reminder of God’s grace and faithfulness.

It is amazing how quickly God can work when someone is willing to step out by faith.

Moments like these remind us why this ministry is so important. Many people who leave the Amish are searching not only for practical help, but for truth, love, guidance, and hope found in Jesus Christ. Your prayers, encouragement, and support help make stories like Isaac’s possible.

Please continue praying for Isaac and his new bride as they begin their life together. Pray that they would continue to grow in the Lord and be a testimony to others who may also be struggling with questions about truth and salvation.

Thank you for standing with us as we continue reaching Amish people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

In Christ,

Samuel & Polly
