Missouri’s Amish population growing faster than national average

MISSOURI – Missouri has become one of the fastest-growing destinations for Amish families in the United States, with the state’s Amish population more than double the national growth rate.

The Amish are a traditionalist Anabaptist Christian group with Swiss and Alsatian roots. While farming has traditionally been central to Amish life, many families also own construction companies, bakeries, and other small businesses. Most Amish communities continue to rely on horse-and-buggy transportation and limit the use of modern technology, although practices vary among church affiliations.
