Before she became a business owner, content creator and PhD candidate, Lizzie Ens was a member of a Swartzentruber Amish community in Ohio. Like her 18 other siblings, she grew up rejecting technology and modernity in favor of a radically rural lifestyle.
She first attempted to leave the lifestyle at the age of 17, with her twin agreeing to join her in the escape. They were only gone for two days before Ens’ sister insisted they return to their family.
