Being clothed in God’s righteousness relieves us of the stress of having to put on a show of goodness in ourselves. We can freely speak of the un-goodness of our own selves, because our goodness is not of ourselves.

Confessions of sin or other ugly issues in our lives come much more easily. There is no one to impress. 

That is hard for most of us. Human nature always wants to self-justify. If we can discuss the faults and sins of others, it shifts the focus off of us. 

“Oh, did you hear of the horrible so-and-so’s? They are just REALLY bad people!”

This reminds me of a little portion of scripture:

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

If you look up the word “all” in the Greek text, it means “all.” All as in ALL. That is the same word we use for all in the English language! 

While I was dead in sins and trespasses, He came looking for me. Eph. 2:1. That’s my Saviour.
