Be Still And Know That I Am God

I have been thinking a lot about how people are so busy in life these days. It seems that everyone is continually running like crazy in order to make ends meet.
And I have noticed that because of our busyness, we often don't have time to recognize God in our lives. We forget that He is even there until we really need Him and then we go running to Him, thinking that He should immediately drop everything else and attend to our need. How sad and selfish of us.
In Psalms 46:10 we are told, "Be still, and know that I am God..."
Sadly, many of us are far from "still". We "do all the work" and give God none of the credit. We believe that by "working hard" and by "taking courage," we can survive and thrive by the sweat of our own brow. In a sense we are trying to live life all on our own, without depending on God.
This command-"be still"-forces us to be reminded of two things: (1) that we are completely and totally helpless without God and (2) that Almighty God wants ALL of our devotion and worship.
You see, more then anything else, God desperately desires to have a living relationship with you and me. He wants to be recognized as the One who gave His only begotten son to die on the cross for our sins. He wants to be thanked and appreciated for all the things He provides for us on a daily basis. He wants to be INVOLVED in every part of your and my life.
In Exodus 34:14, the Bible tells us, ...for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:
And with that in mind, I would like to challenge you to spend some time each day, "being still and knowing that He is God" Read His Word every day! Give Him Glory and Honor and Praise, for He alone is Worthy to be Worshipped forever!
