Amish Bean/Bubbly Soup

Ingredients
2-3 T. butter
1 c. cooked navy beans[optional]
3 qt. milk [appr.] salt
8 c. stale homemade bread [cubed]
Instructions
Brown the butter in a saucepan, then add the milk and bring almost to a boil. Add salt to taste, and enough bread to thicken. Cover and let set for 10 min. before serving. Add beans if desired.
