My Prayer
By Norma Miller

If some small act of mine has caused
A soul to hurt, or break, or pause;
If some small careless move of mine
Removed the eye of one from thine;
Dear Father, forgive.
If some small reckless shake of head
Caused grief, or pain, or even dread;
If some small, thoughtless word
Was cause for one small soul to hurt;
Dear Father, forgive.
If some small selfish move of mine
Caused someone else's heart to pine
And my obsession of myself
Gave pause to someone else's health;
Dear Father, forgive.
For in this life, one thing I care.
To offer rest and not despair.
To bless the ones I meet each day
To know that I sent love their way;
To know that just one soul was blessed
Was offered peace and not distress;
To know that through my restless heart
One soul found light in place of dark;
That on the day of bitt'rest storm
Was found a calm, and rest, and warm;
And when the day was dark and bleak,
Someone was moved Your heart to seek...
Would make it worth the sweat and tears
And toil and sadness of the years.
To know that love was found in me,
Would bring me joy eternally.
Today, My Father, this I plea;
Take up residence in me.
Fill My heart with Your embrace
So I spread love, and joy, and grace.
