The Battle
By Dale Schmucker

They tried to destroy and trip me so badly
I wouldn’t get up anymore,
Pushing me down in the mud and the mire
Until I was deep in despair.
They called me a failure and good for nothing,
And oh, they would laugh me to scorn;
Gathering ‘round me to tear me to pieces
As I lay there, weary and torn.
Chorus:
But Jesus has rescued me.
He came and He set me free.
When darkness was all that I could see,
My Savior did rescue me.
My Savior did rescue me.
My Savior did rescue me.
A battle is raging the war of a lifetime
Against a foe that’s unseen.
He’s robbing and killing, dividing, destroying
The children of the one true King.
Loving each other they follow their Captain
Believing the Spirit and Word.
We will be triumphant though all hell is raging;
Victory has been assured
Chorus:
Victory is assured
Triumphant through my Lord
Jesus is greater and Jesus is Lord
Victory is assured.
Victory is assured.
Victory is assured.
