Give Thanks

Another month has come. Have we thanked God for the little things in our life—things like bread to eat, a place to sleep, friends, and family? Have we thought of thanking Him for giving us life and breath? What about salvation? Do we think of the agony He went through, or do we groan within ourselves?
Maybe life didn’t turn out how we expected. Maybe there is sickness in the family. Maybe we suffered great agony as a child, and healing hasn’t yet come.
I’m waiting for some healing in my life. I have forgiven. Now I am waiting on the Lord to heal me in areas where I know I’m a little raw. You know—like when you go through open-heart surgery or even a minor surgery. Like getting a toe under the lawn mower, quick surgery might fix it, but it still needs healing. I’m writing from experience! Oh, the pain at the time! Even though the cut is clean and the skin is stitched together, it hurts. But healing will come.
Back to being thankful. I have moments when I groan within myself. Life seems tough at times. Being thankful seems far away from me. That’s when I am reminded to thank the Lord anyway.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
