Bible Project
Did you know?
The Amish know three languages: Pennsylvania Deitch, English and German.
- Pennsylvania Deitch is their mother tongue, a dialect which is spoken in the home
- English becomes their second language and is learned during eight grades of schooling
- German is the language in which all their spiritual books are written in ---- Bible, hymn and prayer books, as well as a few other choice reading materials.
Of the three languages, German is the least understood. And because so few understand what they read, many do not read the Bible at all. Therefore, we have been working diligently at giving out English Bibles to the ones who accept them.
Because of people who support this project, MAP has for the last few years been able to give out 2,000 New Testaments a year.
The following chart gives you an idea how much our New Testaments cost:
1 - New Testament ($1.25)
