Several participants attended the 3rd annual Mission to Amish People Mentoring and Discipleship conference. It was held at the Bethel Baptist church in Savannah, Ohio on Saturday, October 8th. The guest speaker was Calvin Brown.

The conference topics were The Relational Priorities of Jesus, A Mentoring Thank You, Mentoring Defined, The Constellation of Mentors, Five Holistic Mentoring Phases, and Guidelines for Mentoring Relationships. Follow-ups for those who are interested in mentoring were also made available.

Rev. Calvin Brown is husband to Robin and dad to Calvin Jr. and Maxwell. He’s a church planter and Co-Pastor at Destiny Church in Twinsburg, Ohio. (www.destinychurchonline.com)

From Joyce Mink: Some at Church of the Open Door, in Lodi, celebrated a Thanksgiving Dinner after their church service.  Joni & Katie Hershberger and Jeremiah, Isaiah & Cheyenne; Wayne & Katie (Rock) Hopek, Joyce Mink, Abe Schrock, Malinda Hershberger, Leanna Scheel & Enos Keim.  Missing are Dan & Mary Schrock, Nathan & Nehemiah.

Naomi Stutzman and Brenda Nixon, along with four other authors, were featured at Sips Coffee House located at 101 South Main Street, in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, for a book signing on Saturday, November 24.

Naomi’s book, A Basketful of Broken Dishes is a true story about her parent’s experiences while they were Amish.

Brenda’s book, The Birth to Five Book: Confident Childrearing Right from the Start, is a handbook for parents of small children. She is a contributing author in A Scrapbook of Christmas Firsts: Stories to Warm Your Heart and Tips to Simplify Your Holidays by Cathy Messecar, Trish Berg, Terra Hangen and Brenda Nixon. She has a story about her father in the book Chicken Soup for the Soul: Thanks Dad: 101 Stories of Gratitude, Love, and Good Times.

Featured also were authors Cindy Thomson (Celtic Wisdom and The Spirit of Christmas), Robert Bruce Fruehling (The Revelation of King Arthur), Glenn T. Horne (Imagination Lost), and Janice McCament (Ole Paint Rocks). These author books can each be purchased at Amazon.com.

Next Time: The next time we meet, the worst of winter will be behind us and we’ll be moving into early spring. Praying your Christmas and New Year’s celebrations were filled with much happiness and precious family memories.
