Amish Awareness Conference |
The ministry continues to get requests, asking if we could come and teach our seminar, Amish: Our Friends, But Are They Fellow Believers? For that reason, we are planning a two-day conference next year. The dates are April 10 and 11, 2014. The heart for this two-day conference is mainly to focus on reaching your Amish neighbors with the gospel. At this point, our plans are to include workshops, testimonies, special singing groups, preaching, prayer, and Amish meals. Mark your calendars and watch for more details. In the meantime, we have our 3.5 hour seminar available on DVD (video) and CD (audio). We would like to encourage church groups and individuals to order their choice package and learn how they can effectively share the gospel with their Amish friends and neighbors. You can order from our web site by clicking here. Or, you can place an order by calling the office at (419) 962-1515. Major credit cards accepted. Workbook and DVDs: $60 | Prices include shipping | Workbook and CDs: $35

Daniel: Off to Afghanistan —By Joe Keim |
That statement came from the lips of my beloved father who had spent over a year in prison for dodging the draft during the Vietnam war. To him, it was a heaven and hell issue. At the time, I was unsure what to believe about war. I had left a culture that preached against going to war, the American flag, and getting involved in any type of governmental affairs. Now all of a sudden, I found myself in the midst of church people who did the exact opposite. They praised and celebrated their soldiers, pledged allegiance to the American flag inside God’s house, and voted with the rest of Americans on Election Day. These and many other conflicting beliefs were difficult for Esther and me as we tried to find our way in life during those early years of transition. We had a hard time trusting anyone, fearing someone would lead us in a wrong direction. Again and again, we searched the Scriptures for answers, which is what they had to do in the early church. Acts 17:11 says: ...they received the Word with all readiness of mind, and searched the Scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Recently, one of our young men, Daniel, chose to go back to Afghanistan to serve a second term in the Navy. Before he left, we invited him and other former Amish to get together for a time of testimony and Bible study on, “What does God say about going to war?” As you can see, we had a great turnout and a very healthy time of discussion. Click on “What does God say about going to war?” When you get done reading the Bible study, we’d like to encourage you to leave a comment. |
Building Addition Progress |
We are excited to keep you informed about the progress of the building addition! Thank you to all who have prayed, given, and donated time and resources to help this project become a reality! The construction began on March 29, and with the many great volunteers we have had so far, construction is going well—from construction crews like those of William and Perry and Chris to individuals like Bill, Wayne, Glenn, Travis, Lawrence, Elmer, and Pastor VanHorn to entire church groups like those from Byesville, OH and Greenwood, WI—we thank God for your prayers, kindness, servanthood, and generosity. We also thank those of you who are still planning to volunteer and for those who would have liked to volunteer but could not. Continue to check out the building progress on our website, with news and pictures being added as the work progresses: See more pictures at Building Update. |
Amish Voice Conference Call |
Our first two conference calls went well. You can listen to both recordings on our website. The first discussion was on Justification by Faith, and the second was on the Fruit of the Spirit. Our next two conference calls are scheduled to be with John Regier as the guest speaker. Mr. Regier is a professional counselor with Caring for the Heart Ministries. Join us as John Regier speaks about Sexual Abuse on June 2 at 8 p.m. EST and Moral Addictions on July 14 at 8 p.m. EST.
Learn how you can listen to previous conference line discussions by clicking here. The main purpose for this Conference Call Ministry is to connect with Amish people who have access to personal and community phones. We continue to advertise in The Amish Voice, which goes out to about 8,000 people. To read, download, or sign up to receive notifications of the Amish Voice, please click here: |
