Ovid, N.Y. - Six Amish people were hurt Sunday when a car hit the horse-drawn buggy they were riding in. Police say a car driven by 29-year-old Natalie Covert hit the buggy on County Road 139. The buggy flipped, throwing all six people from it.

LINWOOD, ONT.—A 13-year-old boy is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after the horse-drawn buggy he was driving was struck by a pickup truck northwest of Waterloo. Police say the boy was in the buggy last night with his nine-year-old brother as they headed to a neighbour’s home in Linwood to sell chocolate bars for a school fundraiser. Investigators say the horse suddenly got spooked and bolted across the road into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The horse was killed instantly in the crash, which destroyed the buggy.

Barron County WI - Five people in a buggy were injured, some of them seriously, when a semi hit their vehicle in northwestern Wisconsin and then fled.
Brian J. Holst, 40, of Chetek confessed to hitting the buggy shortly before 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, and leaving the scene, Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald said. Police received a tip that a semi from Jennie-O could be involved Thursday morning.

Authorities said the crash was reported about 8:30 a.m. on Covered Bridge Road in Wilmington Township.
According to police, the driver crested a hill, but by time he saw the buggy, he said he couldn’t stop.

The Mennonite couple were almost home from the Lowe's store in Muhlenberg Township when the accident happened around 10:20 p.m. in the 800 block of Park Road in Maidencreek Township, near Fleetwood, police said.

Driver Destroys Amish Buggy, Three Injured -- Marienville State Police say a Clarion man collided with an Amish buggy Tuesday afternoon along Route 66 in Vowinckel. Four Amish men, of Tionesta, were traveling in the buggy at the time. Three were injured. Police say Joseph Matus, 40, of Clarion, couldn't see the buggy because the sun was in his eyes, and struck it in the rear section.

Witnesses: Hit-and-run driver may have intentionally killed horse ---- WARSAW IN – Police are investigating a shocking hit-and-run crash in Warsaw.Late Saturday night, officers were called to Enterprise Drive near U.S. 30 on the city’s north side after the driver of a car appears to have deliberately driven straight into a horse that was pulling an Amish wagon.
The Amish victims say the driver of the car drove past them headed south on Enterprise Dr. A Walmart manager said the car was then seen on store video turning around in the parking lot, headed straight back for the Amish wagon.
The people in the wagon told police the driver of the car, described as a white Grand Am, accelerated and drove straight into the horse. The impact killed the animal immediately and threw the wagon onto the curb. The passengers in the wagon were thrown but not hurt.

Buggy crash leaves one dead, one critical -- Mary Beiler, 73, of Athens, a passenger in the buggy, was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that happened just before 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the intersection of Ivory and Townline roads in the town of Johnson, on the outskirts of Athens. Her husband, 71-year old Daniel Beiler, was the driver of the buggy.

Bender said he was headed home from shopping at Coborns when he saw a vehicle approaching him from behind. Bender said he had a slow moving vehicle sign on the back of his buggy as well as both front and back lights hooked up to a battery.

CANTON, Mo. — A Canton man died Thursday as the result a truck-buggy accident on U.S. 61, fourth-tenths of a mile south of Mo. 16. Chris Yoder, 42, was pronounced dead at 7:42 p.m. by Adams County (Ill.) Coroner Jim Keller after being airlifted to Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Ill. The horse pulling the buggy died.

Car, Buggy Collide in Clare County MI -- Only minor injuries were reported early Saturday morning after an Amish buggy was hit by a 2006 Chevrolet Express Van on M61 at Athey Road in Hamilton Township. The Clare County Sheriff’s Department reported that both vehicles were westbound on M61 when a 40-year old Gladwin man hit the buggy from behind. The man said he was distracted by a sneezing attack.

2 injured in Amish buggy accident in W. Wisconsin - Two people were injured in an accident involving a horse-drawn Amish buggy carrying six people in Shawano County in eastern Wisconsin. The sheriff's office says a Marion Police Department officer who arrived on the scene around 2:30 p.m. Sunday was told the horse became spooked while going down Wisconsin Highway 45 in the Town of Grant. The horse bolted into the ditch and a wheel was torn off, causing the buggy to overturn.

The victim, who was not identified by authorities Sunday night, was a driver for an area business offering buggy rides, the official said.

St. Lawrence County man rear ends an Amish Buggy, faces charges
St. Lawrence County Sheriff's Deputies have charged 23 year old Travis Quicke of Rensselaer Falls, with Leaving The Scene of a Personal Injury Accident and Un-inspected Motor Vehicle.
Police received a report of a motor vehicle and an Amish Buggy accident on the Irish Settlement Rd. in the Town of Oswegatchie. Investigators say Quicke rear ended the buggy and then fled the scene of the accident. Quicke was later located in the Town of Canton.

Horse and buggy hit by car on Manitoba (Canada) highway
A buggy being pulled by two horses was struck by a car on Highway 6, north of St. Laurent, Man., Friday night, sending three people to hospital with undetermined injuries. The horses were not hurt. According to RCMP, the collision happened around 7:45 p.m. CT. The three people taken to hospital were adult men in the buggy.

ADAMS COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) -- The Adams County Sheriff’s Department announced Friday that a third person who was riding in a buggy when a van crashed into it last week, died overnight. Police said 17-year-old Jerry Schwartz died in a Fort Wayne hospital as a result of the injuries he suffered when 21-year-old Chandler Gerber crashed a van into the buggy that was carrying him and five other people near the intersection of S.R. 124 and C.R. 400 W, just before 8 a.m. on April 17, 2012. A three-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl were also killed in the crash.

New York state law enforcement officials say two Amish children are in critical condition after the horse-drawn buggy they were in was rear-ended by a package delivery driver. The auto accident was about 330 miles north of Newburgh in the border town of Massena, in St. Lawrence County. State police said the buggy had two women and four kids in it. One of the women apparently suffered a spinal injury in the accident, while the other woman and the other two children were reportedly treated at a nearby hospital for their injuries and released.

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY -- Two amish children are being treated at Upstate University Hospital after their buggy was hit by a Fed Ex truck. The accident happened Monday afternoon on Route 37 in Massena. State Police said all six people in the buggy were taken to Massena Memorial Hospital, but a woman and two three-year-old children have been transfered to Upstate in Syracuse. The children are listed in critical condition.

The old-fashioned carriage, unadorned by the bright orange safety signs that have caused quite a stir in local Amish circles recently, was then knocked into a ditch. While the passengers of the wagon, aged between seven and 15, survived the incident unscathed, a teenage boy who was driving the horse-drawn buggy has been cited for failing to display the regulation orange triangle.
