Richmond, Indiana — Two Amish children were injured in an accident on a Round Barn Road North farm Thursday evening.
One child, a 1-year-old, was taken by CareFlight helicopter to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, and another, a 2-month-old, was taken by ambulance to Reid Hospital in Richmond.

Shipshewana, Indiana — US 20 near Shipshewana is back open this morning after being shut down late last night.
Around 9:30 police were called to the scene of car and buggy crash in LaGrange County.
Police tell WSBT three people were taken to the hospital. The horse was killed.

Ephrata, Pennsylvania — A horse was killed when the buggy it was pulling, operated by an 11-year-old girl, collided with a pickup truck Sunday in West Earl Township.
The crash occurred at 4:35 p.m. at South Farmersville Road and Sheaffers School Road.

Potsdam, New York — Everyone escaped serious injury in a collision between a vehicle and an Amish buggy Sunday in the town of Hopkinton.
St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies say 36 year old Reynold Voisine of Potsdam was driving west on Route 11B when he failed to notice a buggy, operated by 36 year old Joe Miller, also of Potsdam, traveling in the same direction.

Cass City, Missouri — An Amish man and his horse were injured Sunday in a crash in Sanilac County's Greenleaf Township.
The accident happened about 8 p.m. on Van Dyke Road north of Bay City-Forestville Road.
Michael Leavine, 50, of Port Austin was northbound on Van Dyke, driving a Dodge pickup, and didn't see the Amish man's buggy on the road until it was too late, investigators determined.

Hopkinton, New York — A Potsdam man's vehicle collided with an Amish buggy Sunday evening on State Highway 11B that resulted in a child being injured and charges for the driver of the vehicle, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputies.

Philadelphia, Pennsylvania — When a horse owned by an Amish family ran out onto a highway in rural Pennsylvania and collided with the van Amanda Mattern was riding in over the Labor Day weekend, the 37-year-old's injuries left her in a coma.

Pulaski, Pennsylvania — Two members of an Amish family are dead and a third seriously injured after a crash Saturday in Wilmington Township.
Mercer County Coroner J. Bradley McGonigle III said the family’s buggy, westbound on Mercer-Pulaski Road, was hit from behind by the cab of a tractor-trailer.

Marion, Wisconsin — An Outagamie County man has been arrested after a crash involving an Amish buggy, according to a press release from the Shawano Co. Sheriff's Office.
Investigators say the 38-year-old is suspected of driving under the influence.

Goshen, Indiana — One man is dead and a woman was taken to a hospital Monday, Nov. 25, after a van crashed into a horse-drawn buggy on S.R. 119, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department.
The crash was called in at 5:36 p.m. on S.R. 119 between C.R. 38 and C.R. 13, located about 4 miles west of Goshen.

The accident occurred on State Route 145 early Wednesday morning in an area known as Copper Kettle Turn, about 1/4 mile outside Beallsville.

Easton, Maine — Police are looking for a car involved in an alleged hit-and-run accident that destroyed a horse-drawn buggy Monday afternoon.
Maine State Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run collision at approximately 3 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11. A horse-drawn buggy was traveling southbound on Route 1A when a southbound car allegedly struck the buggy, pushing it off the road onto a lawn, according to a press release from Troop F of the Maine State Police.

Pennsylvania — Two separate horse and buggy crashes in the Midstate Sunday night killed one woman and injured three teenage girls.
Barbara King, 21, of Holtwood, Lancaster County, died after a tractor-trailer struck a horse and buggy Sunday night on Route 30. She died at Lancaster General Hospital, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

New York — One person was injured in an accident between a school bus and an Amish buggy Tuesday in the Town of Lewis, officials said.
According to the Lewis County Sheriff's Office, Adirondack Central School bus driver Joseph J. Mihalko was making a left turn onto Kirk Road from Statzer Road when he hit the back of an Amish buggy. After the buggy was hit, the horse began to run down Statzer Road, which caused the buggy to overturn.

Clayton, New York — A horse was killed on Thursday night when a van sideswiped an Amish buggy on Route 12 in the town of Clayton at about 7 p.m. Thursday.
The driver of the van was Joeylynn M. Ramseier, 40, of Clayton, state police said. The two unidentified occupants of the buggy were ejected but walked away from the crash. Ms. Ramseier also was not injured.
The horse pulling the buggy died at the scene. No tickets were issued, state police said.

Clayton, New York — Everyone walked away from an accident Thursday involving an Amish buggy in the town of Clayton.
It happened just after 7 p.m. on Route 12 when 40 year old Joey-Lynn Ramseier sideswiped the buggy with her van.
The two passengers in the buggy were ejected, but weren't injured.

Lampeter, Pennsylvania — Police say four members of an Amish family escaped serious injury when their buggy was hit by a sport-utility vehicle in south-central Pennsylvania.
West Lampeter Township police on Monday released additional information about the crash that occurred Sunday about 3:20 p.m.
Police say a 76-year-old Quarryville woman was driving a Jeep Cherokee when she rear-ended the buggy. Police plan to cite that woman for careless driving, but The Associated Press is not identifying her because the citation hadn't been filed by Monday afternoon.

Lancaster, Pennsylvania — At least one person was injured in an accident involving a horse and buggy and a car Sunday in West Lampeter Township.
The accident occurred at 3:30 p.m. at Beaver Valley Pike and Otsu Road.
Initial reports indicated a male was lying in the roadway and an infant needed to be checked by medics.

McIntire — A McIntire woman was injured in a truck-buggy accident near McIntire Thursday morning.
Joni Beachy, 19, driver of the buggy, was airlifted to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, Minn. by Mercy Airlife, according to the Mitchell County Sheriff's Department. The condition of Beachy is not known. It is also not known whether she was alone in the buggy.
The driver of the pickup, Herman J. Hanson, 71, of LeRoy Minn., was uninjured. The horse pulling the buggy was killed.

Indiana — The driver of an Amish buggy was killed after it collided with a pickup truck Sept. 26, according to Sgt. Noel Houze, Indiana State Police Versailles District public information officer.
About 10 p.m., a horse and buggy rig operated by Daniel X. Stoltzfus, approximately 18, Versailles, was traveling northbound on U.S. 421 near County Road 450 S. when for unknown reasons the buggy crossed over into the southbound lane where it was struck head-on by a southbound 2001 Ford F250, four wheel drive pickup truck driven by Wilma E. Asher, 53, Versailles.

Sonara, Kentucky — Two people suffered minor injuries Thursday morning in crash between a van a horse-drawn buggy in LaRue County.
The accident happened around 8:20 a.m. in the 6000 block of KY 84 when, according to Kentucky State Police, the driver of the van, Lisa Marie Johnson, 42, of Bonnieville, Kentucky hit the back of the buggy while trying to pass.
The operators of the buggy, Mose Yoder, 51, and Emma Yoder, 50, of Sonora, were taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown with minor injuries. The buggy sustained significant damage and was rendered inoperable. The horses were not injured.

Hillsdale, Michigan — Three people were injured Saturday when a van rear-ended an Amish buggy on Broom Road west of Coman Road in Waldron.
Hillsdale County Sheriff's Department deputies responded to a call at approximately 8:47 a.m. Saturday and were assisted by Waldron Fire and Ambulance.
According to a press release from the sheriff's department, a van operated by Ronald Dean Harmon, 79, of Waldron was traveling east on Broom Road when he struck a buggy operated by a 30-year-old Amish man, Ely R. Shelter.
Harmon told deputies the sun was in his eyes and he did not see the buggy, which was also traveling east. Shelter and his two juvenile sons were ejected from the buggy and sent into a ditch on the south side of the road.

Belleville - A 13-year-old Amish boy is dead and an 8-year-old boy is severely injured after a crash involving their wooden wagon and a pick-up truck Tuesday near Belleville, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown.
Police said Jonathan L. Staley, 19, of Belleville, was driving a 1992 Ford F150 south on Waynesburg Road around 3:38 p.m. As he crested a hill, Staley saw the boys coasting down the hill in the wagon and they began to drift from the left side of the road across his line of travel to the right side of the road, according to the report.

Country Road 22, Pennsylvania — A Goshen child is suffering from possible life-threatening injuries after the horse-drawn buggy she was riding in was rear-ended by an SUV.
It happened Friday morning on County Road 22 about three miles southwest of Middlebury.
Elkhart County Sheriff's deputies say the driver of the SUV hit with such force, it threw the buggy operator out of the wagon. 29 year-old Linda Yoder suffered head and lower back pain. However, the 5 year-old girl riding with Yoder suffered more severe head injuries and was not conscious when emergency crews arrived on scene.

Sheridan Township, Michigan — Police say the driver of an Amish buggy was injured after failing to yield at an intersection and crashed with a motor vehicle in Clare County's Sheridan Township.
The crash occurred at 2:08 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, at the intersection of Hoover and Adams, the Clare County Sheriff's Department reports.
"Investigation revealed that an Amish buggy failed to yield at a posted stop sign causing a vehicle to collide with the buggy," according to a statement from the sheriff's department.

St. Mary's County, Maryland — Two men have been hospitalized after their motorcycles crashed with an Amish horse and buggy in St. Mary's County, Md. Thursday afternoon.
Donald L. Fridell, Jr. 52, and Lawrence F. Jones, 81, both of Lothian, Md. were riding their motorcycles westbound along Route 6 close to Culver Lane. An oncoming horse and buggy, operated by 48-year-old Lyna H. Fisher of Mechanicsville, Md., failed to yield to the motorcycles while making a turn and collided with the men.

West Lampeter Township, Pennsylvania — A young woman was hospitalized Wednesday after a car struck her horse and buggy in West Lampeter Township, police said.
The 21-year-old woman was traveling east in the 1800 block of Rockvale Road when a car driven by Tichaona Kamumvuri, 42, of Lancaster city, hit the rear of the buggy shortly before 8 a.m., township police Officer Melissa Ransing said.
"(Kamumvuri) said he couldn't see her because of the blinding sun," the officer said. "He was coming over a little hill and never saw the buggy."

Paradise Township, Pennsylvania — A Lancaster County woman was severely injured early Sunday after a horse ran onto Route 30 and collided with the vehicle in which she was riding. State police said the horse broke the passenger side windshield and became stuck inside the vehicle.
Amada Mattern, 37, of Mountville, who was riding in the front passenger seat, was taken to Lancaster General Hospital with a head injury, police said. The collision took place in in Paradise Twp. in Lancaster County.
The horse had broken free from an Amish owner who was trying to hitch it to a buggy following a gathering of Amish, according to state police.

Ohio — Ocasio said the buggy was occupied by two men, while the vehicle contained two people. The buggy was disabled and one wheel was “destroyed,” while the car sustained a flat tire, he said.
The horse pulling the buggy was not hurt, Ocasio said. “Everyone was very lucky,” he said.

Wisconsin — Lafayette County authorities are investigating a hit-and-run crash in which an Amish buggy was struck Sunday morning.
The unknown vehicle was driving westbound on Wisconsin 81 around 8:30 a.m. when it tried to pass the buggy and hit the rear driver’s side of the buggy, according to the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department.

Milton Township — A man was injured Thursday afternoon in a rear-end collision involving an Amish horse cart on County Road 1356.
Preliminary Sheriff's Office reports indicated that Eli Miller, 39, 1327 Township Road 1353, was travelling westbound in a horse-drawn two-wheel cart at about 1:50 p.m. when he was struck from behind by a Volvo Station wagon in front of 1202 County Road 1356.

East Otto, New York — The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Office is investigating an accident involving a three year-old child that was thrown from a buggy this past weekend.
The accident happened on East Otto-Springfield Road in the town of East Otto Saturday night.
Police say Dominic Fiorello was traveling south on the road when he hit the buggy with his car.

The original call, received at approximately 7 a.m., indicated that a van collided with an Amish buggy along the side of the road, causing one person to need extraction from the motor vehicle.

Martin Road, Pennsylvania — A New Holland man was injured Wednesday morning when a car struck a horse and buggy along Route 322 in Earl Township, police said.
Raymond Zimmerman, 45, was driving a horse and buggy on Martin Road when he tried to cross Division Highway (Route 322) at about 7:30 a.m., New Holland police Officer Dan Achenbach said.
A car driven by Audrey Williams, 56, of Narvon, missed the horse but struck the buggy, destroying it.

Jackson Township, Ohio — Troopers from the Ashland Post of the State Highway Patrol are investigating a fatal crash on US 42 that involved an Amish buggy.
The incident happened around 10 a.m. Tuesday when Robert Kanuch Sr. of Nova, Ohio struck an Amish buggy headed northbound on US 42 forcing the driver of the buggy, 66-year-old Jacob Swartzentruber, of Polk, Ohio, to be thrown out of the buggy.

Highway 47, Virginia — Two Cullen residents were injured and a horse was put down in a crash last Wednesday just before noon.
According to the Virginia State Police, Noah S. Hertzler, age 44 of Cullen, was travelling with his wife on Highway 47 in a buggy drawn by a horse. Approximately 100 feet north of Rt. 661, the Hertzler buggy was struck from behind by a vehicle.

Carmont Avenue SW, Ohio — Six members of the family were just leaving their home in the 5000 block of Carmont Avenue SW, heading southbound when a vehicle driven by a Brewster man also driving south attempted to pass them on the left on a double yellow line, said Trooper David Blubaugh with the Ohio Highway Patrol. The left rear wheel of the buggy was struck, sending the buggy off the roadway and causing minor damage to the front end of the car. The driver of the car will be cited for a misdemeanor charge of assured clear distance, Blubaugh said.
“I just opened my garage door and saw the car hit the back of the Amish (buggy),” said neighbor Teresa Siffrin. “I saw the blue (color of their clothing) go flying and I started screaming. I’m running out in my driveway screaming. This kid who hit them starts to leave, and I’m screaming to stop. They’re good people.”

Montgomery, Indiana — Authorities say a southern Indiana teenager has died from her injuries after being thrown from a horse-drawn cart struck by a pickup truck.
Daviess County sheriff's deputies say 17-year-old Amy Wagler of Montgomery was a passenger in a horse-drawn cart that was struck Monday night on a rural road by a pickup driven by 17-year-old Tristan Wagler of Montgomery.

Route 414, New York — The Seneca County Sheriff's Office is investigating a car verse horse and buggy accident that happened in the town of Romulus on Tuesday.
Sheriff's Deputies say John Stoltzfus, 18, of Romulus, was in his horse and buggy going southbound on Route 414 when he turned left into the path of an oncoming car. Stoltzfus was transported to Strong Hospital where he is being treated for head injuries.

Pawnee City, Nebraska — An Amish teenager died Sunday morning near Pawnee City, Neb., after the horse-drawn buggy in which he was riding was struck from behind by a car.
Rueben Yoder, 17, and his sister Fannie Yoder, 20, were riding in the buggy, which was eastbound on Nebraska Highway 8-50 about 3½ miles east of Pawnee City when a car driven by Vivian Cockrell, 56, struck it from behind, according to Pawnee County Sherriff Jayme Reed.

Pontotoc, Mississippi — The Mississippi Highway Patrol late Wednesday investigated a traffic accident involving an Amish buggy and car on Highway 341 in Pontotoc County near the Algoma Community. The MHP says when they arrived on the scene it appeared that Lauren L. Purdon, 19, of Thaxton, was traveling south on 341 in a 2004 Nissan Altima when her vehicle apparently collided into a horse and buggy.

Highwasy 22, New York — An Amish buggy crash that resulted in injuries to four people and the euthanization of the buggy's horse allegedly was caused by a van driver falling asleep.
The crash happened at about 8:50 a.m. Thursday on Highway 22 north of Highway 33 in Columbia County.
Dennis Thom, 62, rural Pardeeville, admitted to investigators of the Columbia County Sheriff's Office that he fell asleep and rear-ended the buggy carrying three children and two adults.

Charleston, Illinois — An eastern Illinois man was in jail Monday after a hit-and-run collision that killed a 16-year cyclist and injured four others who were riding back from an Amish farm-trade show.
Leonard J. Beachy of Flat Rock was hit by a car just after 9 p.m. Saturday as he rode along a two-lane road just south of Charleston with his two brothers and two other men, Coles County sheriff's Det. John Clough said. Charleston is about 50 miles south of Champaign.

Listowel Road, Ontario (Canada) — A 15-year-old boy was transported to McMaster Hospital in Hamilton yesterday afternoon, after the horse and buggy he was riding in crashed with a car.
Waterloo Regional Police say a Chrysler Neon was in the process of passing a Mennonite buggy on Listowel Road near Line 86 near Elmira. Both vehicles were heading northbound when the buggy suddenly turned out in front of the car and they crashed.

Salisbury Township, Pennsylvania — At least five people were injured in Salisbury Township Friday night, when a car collided with a horse and buggy.
The injured were an adult and four children, ages 2, 4, 6 and an infant, all occupants of the buggy. They were transported to Lancaster General Hospital. Their conditions are not known.
