2021 In Review |
As 2022 begins, enjoy reading a short update from some of the ministries inside of MAP! We treasure both your prayers and financial support as bountiful gifts! BIBLE CLUB God has greatly blessed the Bible Club ministry during 2021. We mail Bible lessons to Amish, former Amish, Mennonite, English, and even to students from other countries. Our students range in age from 4-80! With the help of 20 faithful, weekly volunteers and 350 donors, we were able to send out over 98,000 Bible lessons and record 205 salvations this past year! The Bible Club has continued to grow over the course of 20 years. We receive new students daily. The names of students are taken from Amish directories and also given to us by other students. When a student enrolls in the Bible Club, they have the chance to earn awards and prizes. Each lesson that a student does earns points toward receiving awards. Every year we also host a promotion in an effort to get the student more involved in studying their Bible. The gospel is taught throughout the Bible lessons and the student is given the opportunity to surrender their life to Jesus. Following are a couple of testimonies that we have received from some of our students. Hey, how are you? I am fine. I just wanted you to know how much I get out of this Club. I love it sooooooooooooooooo much! You are a big blessing. Sometimes you send lessons right when I need them. I know God sent you to do this just as He sent Jesus to die on the cross. Just keep up the work that you are doing. God Bless you! Your friend, Zoey. God loves you! Dear Teachers, today I was so touched when I read my lesson. I went to my room to ask the Lord Jesus to forgive my sins. I was never really sure I had done that, so I did it today. I trusted that the Lord Jesus will forgive my sins. Thanks for the prizes! Sincerely, Mary Beth of PA As we look back through the years, we realize how blessed we are. With your volunteer support, donations, and prayers, we have continued to grow. As the year 2022 begins, we continue to pray that God will guide the students to His path. We also pray for you, our donors, that God will help you in your troubled times and reward you for all that you do for His ministry. Holley Tolliver, Office Manager PLOWMAN’S ACADEMY “Study to show thyself approved unto God…” (2 Timothy 2:15). What a blessing it is to see students grow in Christ as they study His Word! We see their growth as they answer the questions on their worksheet in a way that shows an increased level of understanding of scripture, in their praises and prayer requests, and their willingness to share with others through testimony and referrals. This year we received 80 referrals from our students. I continue to be amazed at the level of trust our students have in us here at Plowman’s. One dear lady was sharing her deepest grief after losing her husband of 42 years. Through her tears, she still praised the Lord for His goodness. A young Amish couple – both the husband and wife – were doing the studies together. They shared with us that they were considering leaving the Amish and asked us to pray with them. We were able to send them information to help in their decision making. We at Plowman’s Academy covet your prayers for our students. Our greatest desire is that they would “…grow in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” (2 Peter 3:18). —Ducia Hamm, PA Director AMISH VOICE Last year, 69,903 copies of The Amish Voice were mailed to Amish addresses across the United States. This 16-page, bi-monthly publication strives to get solid Biblical teaching into the hands of Amish readers and emphasizes checking religious beliefs against Scripture as the ultimate authority. —Michal Nutt, Publications
NEW BEGINNINGS HOMESTEAD Over the past couple of months, Kelly and I have had the opportunity to get settled in, become familiar with our new church family, and work alongside Joe and Esther while ministering to the women here at New Beginnings. On a couple of occasions, Joe had mentioned that it seems the needs of women leaving the Amish are changing. In the past, the ministry saw many young women leaving the Amish who needed help getting ahead in life. They needed housing, a job, a driver’s license, and a GED as well as discipleship. But more recently, it seems that a greater number of women who are leaving have children. There is also an increase in women dealing with major challenges because of their past. As we all pondered this and sought the Lord’s guidance in prayer, we decided to take a field trip and make a conference call with several like-minded ministries. We discovered that we are not alone. It seems that some-thing within the culture has changed and the women the Lord is sending us have unique challenges. So, where we are now at New Beginnings is a time of transition. Several of the women that were here when Kelly and I arrived have moved on. To fill the vacancies, we started interviewing new women—with one to arrive the week after Christmas. Also, because of the change in the needs of these women, we are making some changes as to how we minister. Through much prayer and seeking the Lord’s guidance, we have decided to increase how often we minister to them. Starting January 1st, we will be leading them through a daily devotional, assigning them Christian books to read, teaching them life skills (such as scheduling, budgeting, dangers of the internet), along with helping their spiritual formation by teaching them how to study scripture, how to meditate on God’s word, and how to place their dependence upon God moment by moment. We will also be leading them through a verse-by-verse study of a book of scripture each week, starting with Galatians. We will continue leading these women in discipleship as we share the gospel with them and continue our study of the ABCs of Christian Growth. —Mike & Kelly Campbell |
