Opportunity for You to Reach the Amish! |
Greetings from Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, where we are enjoying a wonderful spiritual awakening among Amish folks within the Johnsonburg community. Over the past few months, at least two dozen Amish adults have come to a saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and have been truly born again. It all started with a Johnsonburg Amish bishop who read an article that I wrote in Mission to Amish People’s bi-monthly publication, The Amish Voice, that was titled “Amish and Born Again.” I met that bishop soon after he read my article, and our meeting was the catalyst to the start of several weekly Bible studies and the gospel’s subsequent spread among the Johnsonburg community. The fire that has been ignited in Johnsonburg is now spreading to Amish in other states. Whether you are ex-Amish or an “English” person like myself who is burdened for the Amish, I am sure you are thrilled to hear this good news, but I have even better news for you! We have an incredible opportunity to spark a similar awakening among other Amish communities. Mission to Amish People publishes The Amish Voice every other month. It is always 16 pages, chock-full of Bible-based articles that are very relevant to Amish people. It is designed to spark their interest in biblical truth. The Amish Voice is a light that shines in Amish darkness. Currently The Amish Voice is mailed to 11,000 Amish households. But MAP has the addresses of 60,000 Amish households from across the United States! The only reason The Amish Voice is not being mailed to 49,000 of those 60,000 Amish households is lack of funds for printing and postage. So here is the good news: You can help change that! Printing and mailing one issue of The Amish Voice to one Amish household costs only 75 cents. Since The Amish Voice is mailed every other month, that reduces the cost to just 37.5 cents per month. You could make it possible for 10 Amish households to start receiving The Amish Voice for just $3.75 per month! 100 households would cost $37.50 per month, and 1,000 households would be $375 per month. Perhaps you will want to do what my wife and I are doing, what that Johnsonburg bishop I mentioned above is doing, and what two newly-born again young Amish men in Kentucky are doing. All of us are sponsoring an entire Amish community near us, planting gospel seeds in Amish soil. Imagine former Amish people walking up to you in heaven and saying, “I am here because you sacrificed financially so that you could sponsor The Amish Voice to be mailed to me!” Wouldn’t that be wonderful? To start your monthly sponsorship, eithercall MAP at (419) 962-1515, or visit MAPMinistry.org, click on “Get Involved,” then click on “Give Online,” and scroll down to click on “Sponsor the Amish Voice.” You can set up an automatic monthly donation via a credit card or from your bank account. That way you don’t have to remember to mail a check each month. Don’t delay! Start your monthly sponsorship today! — David Kirkwood |
Sewer Project |
Dear friend of MAP, Won’t you pray with us regarding a pressing need that the ministry has been hit with recently? Our 70 year old sewer system is badly deteriorated. To connect to the city sewer system that runs along the road comes with a $120,000 price tag! It would be equally as expensive to attempt to repair our existing sewer, so we have chosen to hook up to the city sewer. We have several fund-raisers that are in the planning stages, but are not certain that they will come close to covering this need. Please pray with us! Joe and Esther Keim |
Praising God in Death and in New Life! |
Dear Friend, Let me start by praising our Lord and Savior for what Jesus did for us when He hung on the cross! “When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost” (John 19:30). First of all, Polly and I truly appreciate your support and prayers for the ministry and our family. I am sad to say that our sweet daughter, Loretta, age 6, went home to be with our Lord and Savior on April 18th at 1:51 PM. For a week she had been having low grade fevers along with congestion. She would clear up, but the fever kept coming back. Cincinnati Children’s Hospital kept her overnight and diagnosed her with perforated appendicitis. Bacteria was in her blood. Other than the I-cell disease, Loretta had always been so healthy. I am very thankful for all of the years that God gave us with her. Loretta has blessed people from all over the world, and she will be greatly missed by so many. She was a daddy’s girl. She and I spent lots of time together. Please pray for our family as we go through the grieving process. In the December 2021 newsletter, I shared about our garage burning down. Today the structure is rebuilt and we are adding a 3-bedroom apartment in the loft for guests. If you ever want to visit the Creation Museum or Ark Encounter, Polly and I would be glad to host you! We live less than an hour from each one. So much has happened in the past 4 months. Walter, the 17 year old young man, is still here, faithfully going to church, and growing so much spiritually. He visited his family a while back, and was able to spend a few days with his mother. He was thinking about going back Amish, but decided against it. I was able to arrange for him to go for counselling in South Carolina where he found much healing and is doing considerably better. Continue to pray for Walter. Jesse and Lizzie Cooper have had their first child, a girl, named Elizabeth Rose Cooper. She is growing so much! Lizzie left the Amish last year and married Jesse. They are doing well, growing spiritually, and are very faithful in church. Please continue to pray for the Coopers. And last but, certainly not least, Polly and I welcomed our 8th child, a baby boy, named Matthias Isaiah Girod. He is very healthy and growing. Matthias weighed in at 8 pounds exactly, and was 19.5” long. Please continue to pray for us. Blessings, Samuel, Polly and children |
