Amish Awareness Conference |
For 15 years, I dreamed about one day being able to offer a Bible school for those who come out of the Amish and Old Order Mennonite communities. The ultimate vision was that half of the learning time would be done in a classroom setting and the other half putting what was learned into action. The dream also included putting all of our lesson videos and quizzes online. One of our supporting churches in PA shared my dream and began to give consistently. Several years later, I called Pastor Todd Baker and said, “Brother it is simply not coming together.” I encouraged the church to stop giving. We saved all of the designated money in a separate account, and continued to dream, talk, and pray about this future school. A few months ago, my brother John showed interest in getting involved in this ministry. He even felt like God may be calling him to run it. We still lacked someone to help put structure to our plans. When a former Amish man, Jonas Brenneman, came along and was able to fill in that gap, we knew that God was moving. We have met multiple times to plan and begin to build structure. Lord willing, we will be able to introduce the first school quarter by the end of this year. Excitement is building! Stay tuned for more information. |
Please mark your calendars and plan to join us for a special Amish Awareness Conference. To be held at: Gift of Grace Fellowship Saturday, September 23rd at 3:00 p.m. BBQ Cook-Out to follow at 6:00 p.m. Speaker: Joe Keim of MAP Testimonies of 3 local former Amish Sunday, September 24th at 9:00 a.m. Joe Keim will be presenting Mission to Amish People ministries. Baptismal service to follow. Please RSVP to Pastor Lindsey by text, phone, or email. Former Amish will give their personal testimonies of how they found the Lord through prayer, Bible study, and believing the gospel of the grace of God through faith. All are welcome to attend. We pray that this time together will be a blessing to many former Amish. We pray that our local Christian community members will come and learn about the beliefs of the Amish and how to encourage and minister to them. We also look forward to understanding the purpose and calling of Mission to Amish People and how they come alongside of the Amish and former Amish to help meet their needs through God’s leading. There will be a free will offering if you desire to support MAP ministry. |
Fundraiser Success |
We are truly blessed by those who support our ministry! Rhoda is a young lady who has lived at New Beginnings Homestead for a little over a year. She did an exceptional job at saving money and purchasing a car that looked and ran well. However, in time, her car engine went, leaving her with a $3,000 repair bill that seemed unreachable. In mid-July, a fund-raiser was established to help Rhoda with this bill. Thank you to everyone who donated, bought pizzas, or volunteered your time for Rhoda.
We reached our goal! A total of $3,605 was raised in pizza sales and donations! With your support, Rhoda is now back on the road! The excess money is now in a car repair fund for girls at New Beginnings Homestead. We are truly grateful. |
The ABC Project Receives a Big Donation! |
The Plowman’s Academy is MAP’s school of adult correspondence courses. We offer these courses, free of charge, in an effort to get solid Biblical teaching into Amish homes. The academy currently offers eight courses. The flagship course of the Plowman’s Academy is titled, The ABC’s of Christian Growth. This series utilizes the alphabet to examine topics such as Assurance of Salvation, the Bible, the Church, Daily Walk, the Enemy, etc. The student uses their Bible to fill in blanks as they progress through each lesson booklet. When complete, the student will then fill out a review sheet and return it to the MAP office where Ducia will carefully look at the answers, respond to concerns, and mail it back to the student along with the next lesson. A relationship is forged through the sharing of prayer requests and personal notes. We are excited to announce that a generous donation from an individual with a burden for souls will be used to get the first 16-page lesson of the ABC’s for Christian Growth course into 32,500 Amish homes! Can you imagine the potential impact?! In our church culture, we understand the importance of deriving answers directly from God’s Word. In the Amish culture, answers are often handed down in the form of tradition and rules from the local Ordnung. The Plowman’s Academy systematically teaches the student to look at what God’s Word says about important topics. How exciting it is to put these lessons into the hands of eternal souls who may otherwise miss an eternity with their Creator-Redeemer because they trusted in a system of tradition and works! Take a moment to rejoice with us at the blessing of this financial gift, the seeds that will be planted in fertile soil, and the future harvest that will be reaped! Amish are often reluctant to receive Biblical instruction from anyone outside of their local group. Will you commit to praying with us that the Lord of the Harvest will prepare hearts ahead of time to receive this introductory lesson? Pray for inquisitive minds, and a readiness to accept Scripture as the ultimate authority. Pray that eternal souls will hunger and thirst for more of God’s Word—that they will return their answer sheet and look forward to the next lesson with great anticipation. Pray that many will find salvation through Christ alone! Are you interested in being part of this exciting project? If you live within driving distance of the MAP office, you can! There are two main jobs that need to be done. The first job is to “tab” each publication. It takes three adults to run our industrial tabbing machine. The job is physical and fast! Can you find two friends to come with you and tab for a few hours? The second job that we could use help with is to affix an address label to each publication. As long as you can put an address label on straight, you are qualified! Can you gather a group of 15-20 (perhaps your Sunday School class or Youth Group) and enjoy some lively fellowship as you affix labels? If not, perhaps you can come solo! Can you help? Please call/email Holley at (419) 962-1515 or (holley@mapministry.org) to schedule. We sure are thankful for any help we can get! |
