Abundant Blessings |
Our Bible study group made it to Germany and back. Our main goal, and the one thing we prayed for most, was to be a witness for Jesus Christ. We felt a need to encourage the believers and share the gospel with unbelievers. For the most part, our goals were accomplished. We stayed in homes throughout parts of Germany, sang songs, shared our testimonies, ate meals together, and fellowshipped with Germans and Russian Immigrants. We visited reformation sites in Germany, traveled to Switzerland for two days, and walked where our forefathers, the Anabaptists, walked and were imprisoned, tortured, and killed by the hundreds. About two days before we were to come back to America, one of the women had a dream that we would all die on the way home. The dream was so real that she broke down and cried. I reminded the woman that it was just a dream and that she should not let it get her down. On our flight back, the plane, filled with 500 people, flew through about 30 minutes of hurricane weather. When the aircraft began to feel more like a feather being tossed to and fro, I wondered if maybe the dream would come true. Thank God it didn’t. I want to thank God for you and the many times you prayed and for all who helped out financially. We will never forget and always be grateful for what God accomplished through all of us. It was an absolute joy to listen to the testimonies during our church service in our community back home. God touched the hearts of our group members in so many different and powerful ways. In the end, I challenged each group member to take the same Bible study book we went through and disciple someone else. Esther and I have already moved on and are meeting weekly with other individuals and groups to disciple them in the faith. I am starting to see some of our staff doing the same thing; that is, they are meeting with young Christians and pouring their lives into them. May I challenge you to do the same? Ask God to give you someone to disciple. We, as a church, have been called to do this. I promise, you will grow in your own faith as you disciple someone else. Sylvia Miller in Training Last month, we introduced you to Sylvia, who committed to train under Mission to Amish People for two years. She feels God is calling her to start a ministry to women in New York, similar to what we do with New Beginnings. Last week, a man walked in and gave her $200 to start an account. In January, you will get to hear from Sylvia herself. Step Out of the Boat Conference We are now planning the Step Out of the Boat Conference for next March. About a dozen people have already registered to tell their God-story. The dates are March 12-15. For registration and more information, go to StepOutOfTheBoat.org. We would so love to have you come this year! 25 Years of Ministry As we near 25 years of ministry, we desire to celebrate God’s goodness. Throughout 2025, we plan on celebrating and talking about the many things God has done through MAP. We plan on kicking the year off with a new logo. We are so excited and grateful in our hearts for you and the part you have played in MAP. Together, we have seen thousands of souls saved, and many more have grown in their walk with God. |
Surprises for the Girods |
I have always hoped that I would get to meet someone who has been saved or impacted through the ministry (Bible Club). This year we traveled as far east as Maine and as far west as Minnesota, Wisconsin, down through Mississippi, and on down to Florida to either present the ministry or do an Amish Awareness Conference. So far, we have traveled each month through October on ministry-related trips. We are now taking a break until the first of the year. We are in the planning stages of presenting another AAC in northern Missouri in January or February. In July, we spoke at a church in Rushford, MN, and were blessed to meet several former Amish families. A young eighteen-year-old man named Peter Miller was completely dressed in Amish clothes. As I was talking to him, I asked if he was saved and how he heard the gospel. He said he was saved at twelve years old, through a Bible Club that comes through the mail. The 4th or 5th lesson taught about how we are all sinners and in need of a Savior. It was then that he was saved! I asked him the name of the Bible Club…and it was the Bible Club from MAP! He was surprised to learn this was the ministry that we were representing! Peter is still living at home as a young Amish man in his community. He plans to stay until he is twenty-one years old. As of now, he feels that God is not leading him to leave, so I’d like to ask you to pray for him. After we came home from church on October 20th, my 29-year-old cousin came to our doorstep while we were eating lunch. He is from the same community and church that I came from. Isaac wanted help leaving the Amish culture. He is a Lizzie Ann’s brother. She left in May of 2021, and I shared her story previously. Please pray for Isaac as he faces opposition in the coming weeks. When a person leaves the Amish culture, the family will try to find them as soon as possible and convince the individual to come home by threatening, emotional manipulation, and guilt. It is very important to stay hidden away for a couple of weeks after leaving the culture. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8). Thank you, Tina Duffield |
We ended the year celebrating Tina’s 20 years of service at MAP. I cannot put in words how blessed and grateful I have been for Tina’s hard work and faithfulness. Her calling is as real as the rest of ours, and she has served well. God bless you, Tina! What a powerful testimony and impact you have had on all of us! |
