Son to Parents: My life Has Been Changed Forever!
February 15, 2004
Dear Dad and Mom:
Mom, wondered how I spend my Sundays. I go to church almost every Sunday and five month ago I started to read my bible everyday. I can not even tell you how excited it makes me to talk and think about going to church. Every Sunday's service is different. I love it!! God is so extremely powerful.
I have seen people get healed from Cancer right in front of me. I have seen people that were on wheel chairs for years stand up and walk like nothing had ever happened. Jesus promised us that he would do these things to people that believed in him.
In Mark 16:15-18: Jesus said Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
In John 14:12: Jesus said Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
To me, that verse is extremely clear and powerful. I have to say, I have learned so much since I started to read my Bible every day. God has completely changed my life. I said it before and I will say it again; if I believed that the Amish life was going to get me to heaven, then I would be back there tomorrow.
Dad, you talked about me doing wrong because I'm free from bondage and the rule of man. Am I happy and free because I have a vehicle, house, job, phone etc? Absolutely not!! There are millions of people that have much more than I do and are still not happy because they don't have Jesus Christ. None of those things have anything to do with the reason why I'm happy. Jesus is the only One that sets me free and gives me the truth and happiness.
In John 8:32: Jesus said to those who believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. If Jesus will set you free and give you the truth, then why do you feel like you need to follow the traditions and rules of men?
It does not make any difference to God whether you use a vehicle to get to work or a horse and buggy; God does care where your heart is, not your outside appearance to man.
In Mark 7: 5-9: The Pharisees and scribes asked him, why walk not thy disciples according to the tradition of the elders, but eat bread with unwashed hands. Jesus said to them, well Esaias prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, this people honoureth me with their lips, but their heart is far from me. Wowbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. For laying aside the commandment of God, ye hold the tradition of men, as the washing of pots and cups: and many other such like things ye do.
When I go to church on Sundays, I don't I feel like I have to go, or should go because man will judge me if I don't. I don't go to church to serve God because it is a long tradition that my parents did. I look forward to Sundays because I know that God is going to do something astonishing and different in every service.
We had one woman that was diagnosed with cancer and was told that she is not going live much longer even if they do and operation. They went ahead and planed to have an operation a few weeks later. When she came to church that Sunday she told everybody that she had deadly cancer. The whole church prayed for her and my pastor laid hands on her and prayed in Jesus name that God would take it away. The next week when she went back in to have her operation, the doctors cut her open but could not find any cancer. The doctors said her insides were as healthy and normal as any healthy person. When you see stuff like that happen you realize how powerful God is.
There are many times that I go to church on Sunday morning and Sunday night, because I love being in the presence of God and His people. Have I always had a desire for God like this? No!! When I first left, I did not want to know anything about God. Has God changed me? Absolutely!! Am I as close to God as I want to be? No!! I don't think I will ever get as close to God as I want to. But God knows that my hearts desire is to get closer to him.
These are some bible verse that completely changed my live.
- In Romans 3:23: that all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.)
- In Romans 6:23: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Savior. (NOTE: I can never do good enough things to earn eternal life. Besides, God said it is a gift.)
- Romans 5:8: But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
- In Romans 10:13: For Whosoever shall call upon the lord shall be saved. He said anybody that will call upon the lord shall be saved.
The first time I saw and realized what that verse means I turned almost speechless. To me that is extremely powerful.
Why am I not ashamed to talk about my faith in Jesus Christ?
Because in Romans 10; 11 It says, For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him (Jesus Christ) Shall not be ashamed.
I know that most of the Amish believe that everybody that speaks English and drives a vehicle is out in the world. Am I in the world? Yes, but I am not of the world, because I believe in Jesus Christ alone.
1 John 5:5: Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God.
1 John 5:13-14: These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may Know ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. And this is the confidence that we have in him that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us.
Again, to me he makes it so clear. He said we may know that we have eternal life if just believe.
2 John 12: Whosever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
It is clear that we are not to have any other tradition, or doctrine other than Jesus doctrine. Why do we need man rules and regulations, if we have Jesus doctrine to guide us?
I hope you understand that I wrote all of this out of compassion and love. I pray that someday all of you can experience the joy and freedom in Christ. Right now I'm stress free with nothing to worry about because I know without doubt that God will take care of me in all situations, if I'm willing to listen to him and let him take control. I know that I did not get my house, vehicle, and job by myself. God has flooded me with blessings. I have been blessed with many Christian friends that I fellowship with. I have also been blessed with many more things money could never buy. It makes all of these blessings seem much more special too when you realize where they come from. I know that God is far from done with his blessings because he knows that I am currently and will continue to give back to him.
I have so many questions I would like to ask you. I hope that someday I will be able to sit down with both of you and go through the bible. The more I read and study the more questions I get. It would be wonderful if both of you were able to come and see Herman and me. I would love to talk to both of you again. There are no people in this world that I care for more and love more than you, "Mom & Dad" and my brothers and sisters.
Love to all of you
Son/ Isaac
