Andy Miller
May 6, 2014
My name is Andy Miller, and I am now seventy-two years old. God has been good to me!
I left the Amish, and sixteen years passed before someone told me the truth about salvation, and I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior! I had become an Alcoholic by that time and relied heavily on alcohol consumption, but Jesus changed me overnight! After realizing the truth about salvation, I could not believe that anyone could be saved by living on a hope that they would make it (even though this is what I was taught all of my life).
After I accepted the truth that Jesus is the only way to Heaven, I went back to my Bishop, Edward Nisley, a number of times trying to tell him about the truth of only grace being enough to obtain salvation. It seemed, however, to always go in one ear and out the other!
After my bishop's third marriage to a woman named Nancy Beachy, my wife, her uncle, and I stopped by for a visit. When Edward came out on the porch to greet us, he gave me a big HUG. It was such a surprise because he had never given me a hug before! My wife and I looked at each other in amazement.
Edward took us into the living room and gave us his best chairs. I was setting at his library table looking at an old book he had; it gave the fall and redemption of man in picture format. After a few minutes, he ask if I knew what those pictures meant. I replied by saying that I thought I did. At this point, I realized that God was giving me another chance to give him the Gospel!
I told the Good News story to Edward in the best way that I could. After I was done sharing the gospel, he stood up, clasped his hands together, and euphorically said "It is all free." "Andy it is ALL FREE!" I was so glad he was able to understand the truth!
(I also heard about the same time they would no longer let him preach. I don't know why 100%, but I can guess!)
