Annual horse sale brings thousands to Amish country

MONTGOMERY, KY - Parking is at a premium at Dinky’s Auction Barn in eastern Daviess County. Cars and trucks from across the country mingle with horse trailers and buggies filling the lot. The annual Daviess County Amish Horse Auction is underway and thousands are making their way to the event.

“All week long we’ll have people from 36, 38 states and Canada,” said organizer Lester Raber. “It’s been going on for years and years. The first horse auction was started in 1976 under a shade tree and it’s been going on ever since.”
