MOUNT HOPE, OH – The horse-drawn buggy navigates the narrow, two-lane road so slowly that traffic backs up for nearly a hundred yards.
Behind the carriage, cars filled with tourists and an 18-wheeler loaded with lumber to make some of the Midwest’s finest furniture are part of a small traffic jam. On one side of the snow-covered road, an Amish family’s just-washed clothes sway on a line outside their home.
