Ohio ex-missionary sentenced to 9 years in prison in child sex abuse cases

MILLERSBURG, OH — As a clocktower bell tolled on Tuesday from somewhere in this small downtown, its muffled sound entering the third-floor courtroom, Judge Robert Rinfret was counting.

He was counting his own years of dealing with crime and punishment.

He was counting the near-maximum of nine years' imprisonment that he was about to sentence former missionary Jeriah Mast for just a fraction of his confessed sexual offenses in two countries.
