When death visits the Amish, everything stops.
A normally industrious family is stilled for a period of mourning. It begins the moment a loved one dies and extends until after the burial and repast.
In between, these old-order Amish insist upon inviting death into their homes. They want their deceased loved one back home as quickly as possible, where he or she will stay until the morning of the burial.
