What brought me to New Beginnings was my sister; she wanted to come but wouldn't without me. So, I thought, "Why not?" As I considered it more, I realized it would also benefit my future ministry. I've learned a lot about myself being here, such as how to make and maintain friendships and deepen my relationship with God. It was very different to enter an environment where people genuinely want to help you and live for God, especially since I was used to being on my own and self-reliant. At home, the focus was always on self-sufficiency, but here, everyone is centered on God and His plans for our lives and how we can serve Him. I've come to know God more intimately and understand His heart.
Previously, I was part of a small English church where everyone knew each other. Coming here, with so many people, was initially overwhelming, but I felt truly welcomed and cared for by the church. It's definitely worth coming to New Beginnings. God has placed good, sincere people here who genuinely want to help you.
Sadie's Exit Letter:
I came to NBH with the intention of getting help reaching my goal of becoming a missionary in Nicaragua. At first, that isn’t what I was getting help with, but I was getting help in growing spiritually, knowing God, and learning how to have healthy relationships with the people around me. That was a BIG help.
I learned to trust God with my future, and He has opened doors for me to go to Nicaragua. MAP/NBH has been beside me all along and has helped me achieve my goal of becoming a missionary in Nicaragua. I leave in 3 months.
Living with the NBH girls has been challenging at times but also very rewarding. It has been exciting. There are always activities going on. There is always laughter and companionship. I have made the connections where I know that there are girls supporting me when things go wrong.
I am thankful to have had a job. While at Beyond Measure Market, I got to bake. This is something that I love doing. It was great not to have to drive to go to work. I just walked across the parking lot to get to work. The atmosphere at work was awesome. There was spiritual support, physical support, and great teamwork.
