The Time Is Nearing - Are You Ready?
This story, I believe, gives us the clear instructions about being ready for the return of Jesus. Anyone who is diligent enough to be aware of what is happening around the world today will know the time is very close for the return of Jesus. These Virgins all believed in Jesus and were waiting for His return.

Which One Are You?
In many of Paul's letters he introduces himself as a servant of Jesus Christ and I was curious about the word servant. This is what I discovered.

The Greatest Commandment
I LOVE to read Jesus' response to these preachers of the day when they asked him "I gotcha questions," because he never responded how they wanted him to or how they expected him to. YOU SEE THEY EXPECTED JESUS TO GIVE A LIST OF THE LAWS THEY WERE SO PROUDLY CLINGING TO. Instead Jesus didn't even mention anything listed in the law they were referring to, but he said the greatest commandment I want to leave you with is to LOVE. "LOVE God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength (this is listed in Mark 12) and then LOVE your neighbor as you LOVE yourself." So LOVE is important. I have been thinking about and studying about what this LOVE looks like.

Making Heaven My Future Home
What a wonderful time of year when new life is springing up everywhere. In fact, not only is our family seeing new life all around us, but we also experienced it in our own home. On February 24, 2008 at 3:17 PM Ashlynn Rose was born and added to our family. She has brought much joy to the hearts of all who have met her including her big sister, Amy Elizabeth. Amy adores her and showers her with kisses every opportunity she gets.

Grandma's Hands
Grandma, some ninety plus years, sat feebly on the Porch swing. She didn't move, just sat with her head down staring at her hands. When I sat down beside her she didn't acknowledge my presence and the longer I sat I wondered if she was OK.

A Woman After God's Own Heart?
I have been meditating on what God says about King David. God said that David was a man after God's own heart. If you do a study of David's life you will find out that he was a murderer, an adulterer, and he had a son that sought to kill him. These are just a few of the things on King David's list. The truth is something had to happen in David's heart in order for it to change to be a heart after God. As I read through some of the Psalms that David wrote it is like reading David's journal. One of the first lessons I learned in order to become a man or woman after God's own heart is honesty. We have to be honest with ourselves and with God about our feelings and our thoughts and things we have done or are doing.

What a Gift We Have in Jesus!
What a blessed time of year we have just come through! There is Thanksgiving with all the family, friends, fun, and of course the food! Then there is Christmas! To a lot of people, Christmas may be just more of the same with the exception of the gifts, but to me Christmas becomes more special and more real every year-especially since I have had a child; we have a second child on the way. I realize that Christmas is not just a story we read about in the Bible, or like to read to our children. This is something that really happened.

What is Faith? (Part 2)
In the last edition of the Amish Voice I referred to Romans Chapter 10. My prayer is that you took time to read the whole thing; because of space I can only refer to some of the main verses that direct us to putting our faith in Christ.

What is Faith? (Part 1)
Through numerous conversations I have had recently my heart has been stirred to see what God has to say about faith. It turns out that without faith it is impossible to please God. The best definition I found that the scriptures give for faith is found in Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The entire chapter in Hebrews 11 is a good place to start reading about faith. I read Abraham's story about how God spoke to him about having a baby when he was already old and Sarah's womb was dead (beyond child bearing years).

Springtime Brings New Life
I am so excited to be writing and sharing my heart with all of you! My hope and prayer is that you will find hope, encouragement, and excitement for life as I share with you. Springtime is my favorite time of the year, maybe because I was born in the spring. Everything is turning green, new life is springing up everywhere, gardens are being planted. Believe me when I tell you that seeing things green is very exciting. Where I live in Texas having things green is a short-lived experience,
