MILVERTON, ONTARIO, CA - A teenager is in critical condition following a crash on Christmas involving a horse and buggy.
All four occupants of the horse-drawn buggy were transported to an area hospital by ambulance for treatment. Passengers in the car were uninjured. Police say a 17-year-old is in critical but stable condition.

EAST LAMPETER TOWNSHIP, PA - One person was taken to the hospital after a horse and buggy and car crashed in Lancaster County on Sunday, according to a report from WGAL.
The Christmas collision occurred around 10 p.m., at Mount Sidney and Hartman Station roads in East Lampeter Township.

DIGGINS, MO - A truck hit an Amish buggy about a mile north of Diggins about 4:40 p.m., ejecting but not injuring the driver.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash was at the top of a hill on Highway A at Chestnut Road. The truck hit the back of the buggy. A trooper says the driver swerved but still clipped the buggy, which is totaled.

Stark County, OH - Troopers from the Ohio Highway Patrol are investigating a crash that left a Canton man in serious condition at Akron General Medical Center.
Troopers report that Dennis D. Shonk, 65, of Canton, was driving a 2004 Ford Ranger northbound on SR 241 when he slid off the left side of the roadway while attempting to avoid contact with an Amish buggy, driven by Eli Hershberger, of Massillon, that was northbound.

ALLEN COUNTY, IN - A series of crashes in northeast Allen County tied up emergency responders for several hours Sunday night. All three involved horse and buggies.
The most serious of the crashes happened on State Road 37 and Notestine Road around 8:30 p.m. Sunday. The Allen County Sheriff's Department confirmed two people were killed and one person was hospitalized in critical condition.

ST. LAWRENCE COUNTY, NY - At approximately 6:43 this morning, a buggy operated by 18-yearold Sammie Yoder of Dekalb and 21-year-old Eli Zook of Brier Hill was traveling south on County Route 15 when it was hit from behind by a 2003 GMC Sierra driven by 28-year-old Ryan Garno of Rensselaer Falls.

LANCASTER, PA - A 75-year-old Lancaster County woman was taken to the hospital after a car and a horse and buggy collided Friday morning.
New Holland police said the buggy driver, 76-year-old Melvin Burkholder, was at fault for the 8:54 a.m. accident. Burkholder was traveling out on Frys Road in Earl Township when he steered his rig into the path of a car driven by Anita Smith.

KENTON, OH - According to information gathered at the scene, at approximately 7:10 PM Sunday evening an Amish buggy was traveling East on State Route 309 Near Township Road 235 and was attempting to turn into a driveway on the North side of the roadway. Multiple injuries were reported due to the crash.

ELKHART, IN - A Goshen man was injured when the horse-drawn buggy he was driving was struck from behind at Ind. 13 and Ind. 4 at 3:22 p.m. Friday.
A 2008 Dodge four-door driven by Darson W. Carter, 23, Millersburg, was also southbound on Ind. 13, directly behind the buggy and was traveling at a high rate of speed, police said.

The accident caused a back wheel of the buggy to fall off and a front wheel to be damaged with spokes missing.

Clemens Borntrager, 28, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System - Oakridge in Osseo with undetermined injuries.

GREENS FORK, IN - A buggy went into a ditch Sunday morning after being struck from the rear by a car. Amanda Phillips of Greens Fork told investigators there was extreme glare from the sun and she did not see the buggy traveling in front of her before striking it from the rear.
The buggy was operated by Henry King of New Castle, and his wife, Annie King, was a passenger.

BEAVERTON, MI - An Amish Buggy was nearly destroyed when it was rear-ended by a pickup truck last Friday on Beaverton Road. Three Amish women were hospitalized with injuries.
A driver, reportedly distracted by spilled coffee, rear-ended an Amish buggy on Beaverton Road near Clarwin Avenue October 14 injuring three people in the buggy.

INDIANA COUNTY, PA - An Amish teen was seriously injured in a crash that occurred on State Route 954, in West Mahoning Township, Indiana County.
Police say Davis was traveling too fast for conditions, and his car struck the rear of the wagon. The wagon spun 180 degrees clockwise, and the 14-year-old operator was thrown from the vehicle.

SHREVE OH - A Shreve man was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. Route 250 at Jefferson Road. James H. Swires, 54, was traveling northbound on Jefferson in a 1997 Ford F-250, passed a horse-drawn buggy and failed to stop at the stop.

HOLMES COUNTY, OH - The Amish driver of an open-top buggy and his horse were hit by a pickup truck and killed early Friday morning on Holmes County Road 160, in Paint Township, authorities report.
Roy A. Mast, 33, of Millersburg, was pronounced dead at the scene.

MECOSTA COUNTY, MI — Three family members in an Amish buggy were ejected when the buggy was hit from behind by a car. All three, the father, 35, mother, 34, and one-year-old son were taken to the hospital.
The driver of the car told Mecosta County Sheriff deputies that he was southbound on the road when he crested a hill and the southbound buggy was in the middle of the road.

GLADWIN, MI- Tuesday, Sept. 13 at approximately 8:45 a.m., deputies from the Gladwin County Sheriff Department responded to a personal injury accident involving an Amish buggy and Republic Waste Services refuse truck.

As Richardson was coming to the top of a hill, his vision was obscured by the setting sun. Richardson’s vehicle then collided with the back end of a buggy travelling on the same road.

ANDERSON, IN - A Yorktown man is accused of fleeing the scene of a Wednesday night accident that saw his pickup truck strike the rear of a horse-drawn buggy.
Madison County authorities said two occupants of the buggy – Stacy Scott, 65, who is the principal at Liberty Christian High School, and Darby Goyer, 18 – were thrown from the vehicle after it was struck by the truck driven by Jason Eugene Moore, 37.

CLARE COUNTY, MI - A man and five children were injured after deputies say a vehicle ran into the rear end of an Amish buggy.
Deputies say a 38-year-old Amish man and five children that were on the wagon were all injured in the crash. The injuries ranged from scrapes to possible fractures and head injuries.

INDIANA COUNTY, PA - State police are searching for the driver whose car smashed into an Amish buggy late Saturday afternoon along McCormick Road in West Mahoning Township.
Police say the two occupants of the buggy, 55-year-old John Miller and his 57-year-old wife, Kathryn, were both ejected, but each suffered only minor injuries. They did not require medical treatment.

Deputies say a 17 year-old was driving westbound on St. Rt. 944 around 4:30pm Sunday. He told deputies when he topped the hill, he saw the buggy and tried to swerve around it, but the passenger side fender of the vehicle hit the side of the buggy.

ELK LICK, WV - Seven members of an Amish family were injured – at least three of them seriously – when their buggy was hit by a car Sunday morning in Elk Lick Township, responders said.
Crews arrived at the scene to find the buggy “torn apart” on Route 669 and quickly had to call for medical helicopters from three states to carry a 33-year-old man and two children to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.

GLASGOW, KY - Two people were injured and another arrested Thursday evening after a pickup truck struck an Amish buggy in the 9000 block of Tompkinsville Road, according to a Barren County Sheriff's Office press release.

GREENLAKE, WI - Sheriff's deputies said a horse ran from the scene of an Amish buggy crash in the Township of Kingston Friday evening.
The horse-drawn buggy was heading westbound on County Highway B, near County Highway H with five people inside, one young as six months, when the horse was spooked. The buggy fell into a ditch around 6 p.m. and turned over.

DECATUR, IN - A man who police said sped off from a crash that left the operator of a horse and buggy seriously hurt was found dead inside his home early Tuesday.
Adams County Sheriff’s deputies and medics were called just after 12:30 a.m. Tuesday to a personal injury crash at 1121 South C.R. 650 East in Adams County that involved a pickup truck and a horse and buggy. When responders arrived, they’d learned the driver of the pickup had driven away from the scene.
