JUNE 26, 2017 - (Car-buggy Crash)
ST. CROIZ COUNTY, WI - The Wisconsin State Patrol was investigating what led to a vehicle rear-ending an Amish buggy early Monday in a St. Croix County crash that left a teenager with life-threatening injuries.
The State Patrol reported the crash occurred at 12:38 a.m. on Highway 128 near Highway 12 in Wilson. According to a news release, a 2014 Honda Pilot was northbound on Highway 128 when it struck a horse-drawn buggy from behind, the impact from which threw at least one person from the carriage.

FRYBURG, PA - A Fryburg man driving a horse and buggy was injured in a hit-and-run collision Tuesday evening on Route 157 in Washington Township, Clarion County.
Marienville state police said the crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday when the horse and buggy driven by Mahlon Gingerich, 18, was struck from behind by a Ford F150 while both vehicles were headed east on Route 157. The driver of the truck fled the scene without stopping to make contact with Gingerich, police said.

LANCASTER, PA - A woman was hospitalized after her buggy was hit by a vehicle in Ephrata Township Friday morning, police said.
The buggy and a vehicle driven by Micaela Sensenig, 18, of Ephrata, were reportedly headed east on Glenwood Drive at about 8:53 a.m. Sensenig attempted to pass the buggy, but swerved back into her lane due to oncoming traffic and struck the back of the buggy, causing it to overturn in the 700 block of Glenwood Drive, police said.

LARUE, KY - Three people were injured in a two vehicle collision in LaRue County on Wednesday, May 24 that involved an Amish buggy.
Jerry Whitehead, 38, was traveling north on US 31-W in a 2000 GMC Sierra when he came up on an Amish buggy driven by Joe Gingerich, 33 who was also traveling north on US 31-W with his six-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son. For unknown reasons, Whitehead’s vehicle struck the rear end of the buggy ejecting all three passengers.

BRADFORD, PA - A 9-year-old Spartansburg boy was killed when the Amish wagon he was driving was pulled by its horse into the path of a pickup truck at the intersection of Fish Flats, Fink, and Whitney roads.
The crash happened around 1:30 p.m., Tuesday. According to state police in Corry, four other children, ages 8, 7, 4, and 3, all of Spartansburg, all suffered "severe" injuries in the crash.

MEXICO, NY - Four people, including an infant, were injured when a car crashed into an Amish buggy in the town of Mexico this weekend.
State Police have charged Kenneth Nassoiy Jr. of Pulaski with DWI and vehicular assault following the accident on State Route 3.
Police say all three occupants in the buggy – two adults and an infant – were ejected when Nassoiy struck them from behind in his Jeep. The 3-month old child suffered multiple skull fractures and is being treated at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, police said.

SWEGO COUNTY, N.Y. - Two people were rushed to the hospital by ambulance after a collision between a vehicle and a horse-and-buggy typically driven by the Amish, according to a 911 dispatcher.
The crash happened around 7:15 p.m. on Route 3 between Route 104B and Manwaring Road. The extent of the injuries was not immediately available, but two ambulances have transported victims from the scene, the dispatcher said.

NOBLE COUNTY, IN - Four people were hurt Tuesday afternoon when a semi rear-ended an SUV that had slowed for a horse-and-buggy along U.S. 6 in Noble County.
According to a Noble County Sheriff’s Department crash report, a 2007 Kia Sedona driven by 69-year-old Sherry Hurlbut of Ligonier was headed westbound on U.S. 6 when it came up on a horse-drawn buggy operated by 50-year-old Orlie Fry of Ligonier. Hurlnut slowed her Kia as she approached the buggy, but a 1992 Freightliner semi tractor-trailer driven by 38-year-old Jared Anderson of Minford, Ohio, did not see the slowed SUV and rear-ended it, the report said.

LARUE COUNTY, KY - Three members of an Amish family were sent to the hospital after a truck hit their buggy Wednesday morning.
It happened near the LaRue and Hardin County line on South Dixie Highway, not far from Interstate 65.
Kentucky State Police say a man and his two children were thrown out of the buggy.

LAWRENCE, PA - An Amish family appears to have escaped serious injury Tuesday morning when their buggy was hit by a motorist.
According to Pulaski Township police, the buggy driven by Saloma Byler, 23, of Topper Hill Road, was eastbound on Route 208 at 8:50 a.m. when it was hit from behind by the vehicle of Francis Mayberry, 84, of Bedford Road, Lowellville, Ohio, also eastbound. Officers said Mayberry said he had not seen the buggy.
Two children, ages 3 and 1, police said, "did not appear to have sustained injury." However, all three were taken to UPMC Horizon Hospital in Farrell to be checked over.

INDEPENDENCE, IA - Two Amish teens pulled over to help the children and described the scene as "heartbreaking".
Mark Detweilier says,"I saw a girl laying in the highway, the demolished buggy and a few other first responders, so we figured it was pretty bad. "Jonas Gingrich says, "It looked like one of the girls maybe flew about 50 feet."
The Buchanan County Sheriff's Office says, the pickup truck driver, Justin Annis, 33, of Fairbank was driving southbound in a 1991 Chevrolet pickup truck when he struck an un-covered buggy being driven along the shoulder with four children in it.

GLADWIN, MI - The Gladwin County Sheriff’s Office is looking for tips to identify the driver of a vehicle that struck an Amish buggy Wednesday morning and left the scene.
The hit and run occurred about 7:50 a.m. on South Bard Road near Kerswill Road in Grout Township, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
The driver of the involved vehicle did not stop and fled the scene traveling northbound on South Bard Road.
The passengers in the buggy were hurt in the crash.

LAWRENCEBURG, TN - Three vehicles and an Amish buggy were involved in a traffic accident Tuesday afternoon in Lawrenceburg. According to the Lawrenceburg Police Department, the teen driver of a pickup truck hit an Amish buggy from behind on Highway 43 north near Farm Credit Services.

ADAMS COUNTY, OH - Three people were injured when a car collided with an Amish buggy Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened on southbound Ohio 136, north of Winchester shortly after 2 p.m.
"The Amish buggy and the driver were both southbound on SR 136. The other driver just didn't see the buggy.

LAGRANGE COUNTY, IN - An 82-year-old man was hospitalized Tuesday afternoon after his horse and buggy was struck by a Jeep in LaGrange County.
Police and medics were called just after 4 p.m. Tuesday to U.S. 20 at C.R. 1200 West on a report of a crash that involved a vehicle and a horse and buggy.
MAY 3, 2017 (Motorcycle-buggy crash)
MILVETON, ONTARIO, CA - A motorcyclist is in hospital with critical injuries after a crash with a horse and buggy east of Milverton Wednesday night.
A horse-drawn carriage was turning onto Perth Road 124 from a driveway just after 7 p.m. when it was hit by the motorcycle.
The driver of the motorcycle, a 53-year-old Milverton man, was taken to a local hospital and later airlifted to London.

MAYFIELD, KY - No one was seriously injured when a vehicle struck an Amish buggy Monday morning in Mayfield. The vehicle rear-ended the buggy, ejecting the buggy's three occupants, a father and two children. Mayfield EMS checked all three occupants but none were transported to the hospital.
The carriage was a total loss. It was loaded on a trailer and taken to the owner's home.

LOGAN COUNTY, OH - A local driver struck an Amish buggy on State Route 235 just north of State Route 47 Friday morning around 8:20.
The collision caused the buggy to overturn. Schwartz and his wife, Marie, 61, suffered minor injuries. They were treated at the scene by Riverside EMS.

ASHLAND, OH - Ashland County Sheriff Deputy Hall said, in an interview Friday, “We received a tip today that someone had heard through the third person that the vehicle was seen in Cinnamon Lake shortly after the accident with what appeared to be fresh damage.” The suspect, Daniel Shankel, 24, of West Salem, admitted to investigators he was the person who hit the Amish Buggy.

NEW LEBANON, PA - A Crawford County woman is under arrest for suspicion of DUI after State Police say her SUV rear-ended an Amish buggy, seriously injured two people from Sandy Lake.
Melvin Yoder, 54, and Lydia Yoder, 51, both of Sandy Lake, were thrown from the buggy and sustained serious injuries.

HUBLERSBURG, PA - Two vehicles collided Monday in Hublersburg, leaving a horse dead.
At least two people were aboard the buggy and were treated for possible injuries.
The horse was taken from the scene with a skid-steer loader.

SCHAEFFERSTOWN, PA - A crash Sunday night between a car and an animal injured three people and killed a horse.
“It was a loose horse out on the run,” Schaefferstown Volunteer Fire Co. Chief Nelson Leid said. “At this point we have no idea who the horse belonged to. Apparently it was crossing the road, and a car hit it, and then the car hit a pole.”

BALTIC, OH - A woman who was a passenger in a buggy that was hit by a truck Sunday evening was treated for minor injuries at the scene, the Ohio Highway Patrol reported.
The 21-year-old Baltic man who was driving the truck was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving left-of-center, operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicants, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

MT PLEASANT MI - Seven people, including two children under age 3, were hurt when a pickup truck hit an Amish buggy they were riding in Thursday morning, the second similar accident in mid-Michigan in two days.
Injured in the crash at 8:05 a.m. were seven members of the same family - four adult women, an adult man and the two children, Main said.
“The Amish buggy had been struck by a pickup truck that was traveling eastbound on Blanchard road,” Main said. “The buggy was completely destroyed in the accident.”

ABBOTSTOWN, PA – Authorities say an Amtrak train struck a runaway horse and buggy in Lancaster County, but no one aboard the train was injured.
The empty buggy reportedly got stuck on the tracks Friday night in the area of Rail Road Avenue and Route 30 in Paradise Township.

HARDIN, OH - Four members of an Amish family were injured after the horse drawn buggy they were on was struck by a car Sunday.
According to information from the Hardin County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred around 8 Sunday evening on State Route 31 near Township Road 206. Four members of the Raber family were transported to Hardin Memorial Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

ASHLAND, OH - A second Amish woman involved in an accident on March 3 involving a PT Cruiser and an Amish buggy has died as a result of injuries she sustained in the crash.
Anna Miller, 48, died Wednesday afternoon in the hospital five days after she was taken by helicopter to Akron City Hospitals. Her daughter, Lovina Miller, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

ASHLAND, OH - One woman is dead and three others are injured after a crash involving an Amish buggy and a car in Ashland County on Friday afternoon.
According to Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers, a PT Cruiser and an Amish buggy were both headed northbound on US 42 in Ashland County's Jackson Township around 3:30 p.m.

LAWRENCE, PA - A horse was killed after it was hit by a jeep in Lawrence County on Wednesday afternoon.
The horse had gotten loose while still attached to an Amish buggy and was running in the road near Old Mercer Road and Route 208 in Wilmington Township around 4 p.m. The SUV struck the horse and buggy, killing the animal instantly.

GREENWICH, OH - Four people were injured when a pickup struck the back of a horse-drawn buggy Wednesday on Ohio 13 near the Richland-Huron county line.
Gary Polachek, 39, of Greenwich, was southbound on Ohio 13 in a white 2005 Ford truck. Norman Brubaker, 32, of Greenwich was southbound on Ohio 13 in a horse-drawn black Amish buggy. Polachek struck the buggy in the rear, pushing it into the ditch, according to the patrol.

LOGAN, KY - An Amish buggy was hit this morning on 431 South, right before the Oakville turn-off at approximately 8 a.m. A Miller from Auburn was turning the buggy into a work-site when the buggy was hit by Mike Graham, who was passing at the time. Miller was taken to Greenview Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The highway was shut down for approximately one hour while crews cleared debris.

MCINTIRE, IA - The rural community of McIntire, Iowa is rallying around an Amish family involved in a tragic crash Sunday night.
The Petersheim family--Father, Mother and five children--were riding in their horse-drawn buggy about 9:40 p.m. Sunday when they were rear-ended by a car on Mitchell County Road A-23. A neighbor says they were only a few hundred feet from their driveway when it happened.
The father, Ura Petersheim, 47, was airlifted by Mayo One to Saint Marys in Rochester in critical condition. The neighbor, who preferred not to be named, said he has a severe head injury and is heavily sedated.

SALEM, IN - A horse was killed in an accident Tuesday night on State Road 56 East after an Amish buggy and motor vehicle collided at the intersection of State Road 56 and the bypass.
The Amish buggy was traveling east on State Road 56 approaching the bypass at the same time a 4-door Chevrolet Colorado was approaching the intersection in the other direction.

WINONA, MN - A Dover, Minn., man faces multiple charges following a rear-end collision with a horse and buggy Saturday.
The horse and buggy, driven by a 32-year-old Amish man, was traveling west on Co. Rd. 35 near St. Charles when a white car approached from behind and slammed into the rear of the buggy, sending it into the ditch. The car, which suffered significant front-end damage, according to Winona County Sheriff Ron Ganrude, continued without stopping, then turned onto Park Road.

MCINTIRE, IA - One person is severely injured and six others are hurt after a car collided with an Amish carriage in Mitchell County.
The Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office says it happened around 9:40 pm Sunday on County Road A-23, about 2 miles west of McIntire. The Amish carriage was struck from behind by the car driven by 34-year-old Marshall Peters of Toeterville.

POLK, OH - The Ohio Highway Patrol, Ashland Sheriff’s Department and Polk Fire Department with Polk EMS, responded to the intersection of State Route 604 and Ashland County Road 175 for a vehicle versus Amish buggy accident. The accident took place Friday, February 3, 2017, before noon.
Robert Phillips, 50, of Hayesville, was driving eastbound on State Route 604 in a 2004 Toyota Sienna van. Anna Weaver, 63, of Homerville, was operating a horse-drawn Amish buggy, going southbound on County Road 175 when she crossed State Route 604. There were no other passengers in the buggy.

LAWRENCEBURG, TN - An Amish buggy and a tractor-trailer crashed on State Highway 43 in Lawrence County.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol confirmed they worked the accident Friday.
The operator of the buggy was hurt and transported to Maury Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

CONEWANGO, NY - The Cattaraugus County Sheriff's office says an Amish teen was killed in a buggy accident Friday morning.
Sheriff's deputies say the 14-year-old boy and his father were on a logging rig being pulled by horses on Northeast Road.

Deerfield, NY -An Amish buggy crashed into a utility pole earlier today in the town of Deerfield in Oneida County after the horses pulling it became unhooked from the buggy, police said.
The buggy began sliding on the snow-covered road and hit the pole, according to Oneida County sheriff's deputies.

TUSCARAWAS COUNTY, OH - Two Amish buggies and a car were involved in a crash in Tuscarawas County Sunday morning, sending 8 people to area hospitals.
It happened at Chestnut Road Road and Lawnfield Road in Wayne Township at 8 a.m.
The Ohio State Patrol reports that a Jeep was traveling east on Chestnut Ridge Road when it crossed left of center, hitting the buggies head on. Both drivers and all the passengers in the buggies were ejected. The Jeep drove off the road and eventually stopped in a wooded area.

WALNUT CREEK, OH - Additional charges are pending against the driver of a buggy who pulled into the path of a car on Jan. 17, causing fatal injuries to its 74-year-old driver.
Joyce M. Morris, of Sugarcreek, died Friday, at Summa Akron City Hospital from injuries sustained in the crash near Walnut Creek, according to her obituary.

WALNUT CREEK, OH - A 74-year-old Sugarcreek woman sustained a severe head injury when she hit a horse-drawn buggy that pulled in front of her late Tuesday morning, according to the State Highway Patrol.
The driver of the buggy, 75-year-old Robert S. Coblentz, of Sugarcreek, was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way at the stop sign, said Lt. Stephanie Norman of the Wooster patrol post.

LORAIN COUNTY, OH - The passenger of an Amish buggy and the horse pulling it both died this morning on Route 58 when a truck hit the buggy, ejecting both occupants.
The passenger of the buggy, Jon Swartzentruber, 25, of Homerville, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Lorain County Coroner’s Office. The horse was also killed as a result of the collision, said Lt. Carlos Smith of the Ohio State Patrol.

PERTH EAST, ONTARIO, CA — Police say a 74-year-old man has died after a car collided with a horse-drawn buggy in the Township of Perth East, Ont.
Ontario Provincial Police say all four people in the buggy were injured in the crash, which happened at about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

MOUNT VERNON, OH - This Amish buggy, a crane truck and pickup truck were involved in a crash in Waterford about 7:30 a.m. today.
One minor injury was reported. Waterford Road was a little bit slippery with ice that may have contributed to the crash. The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating. No further details were available at press time.
