MECHANICSVILLE, MD - Robert Edward Lawrence, of Mechanicsville, is charged with failure to immediately stop his vehicle at the scene of an accident involving bodily injury, failure to stop after an accident involving damage to attended property, failure to return and to remain at the scene of an accident involving attended vehicle damage/property damage, failure of driver involved in an accident to render reasonable assistance to an injured person and failure to control speed to avoid a collision. Lawrence was taken to the St. Mary’s Detention Center before being released after posting a $10,000 bond.

LOGANSVILLE, OH - A suspended driver was cited after she struck an Amish buggy on State Route 47 west of County Road 35 (near Logansville) Sunday morning around 8:30.
The Logan County Sheriff's Office reports that Tara Snyder, 33, of Bellefontaine, was driving a 2005 Honda Odyssey eastbound on 47 when she rear-ended an eastbound 1980 Amish buggy operated by Daniel Schwartz, 28, of Maplewood. After the collision, Snyder went off the left side of the road and overturned in a field.

BUSTI, NY - A horse was killed after it was struck by a vehicle Monday evening in the town of Busti.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Kortwright and Big Tree roads. A Busti fire official said the horse was dead when crews arrived.
One person also reportedly sustained injuries in the crash, though the severity wasn’t known.

EAU CLAIRE COUNTY, WI - The operator of an Amish buggy has been hospitalized after a collision with a semi truck in Eau Claire County Thursday.
The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office said the truck was behind the buggy, and the driver was distracted while drinking an energy drink.
He rear-ended the buggy while going 55 mph, destroying the buggy. The sheriff said the buggy operator's injuries were "significant."

PONTOTOC COUNTY, MS - No one was hurt when a vehicle clipped the wheel on an Amish buggy Thursday morning in Pontotoc County.
That's according to Sheriff Leo Mask, who says the accident happened around 7 a.m. or 7:30 a.m. on Highway 341 a couple of miles south of Highway 9.
Mask says two people were in the buggy.

WALNUT CREEK TWP, OH - A Sugarcreek man was injured when the horse-drawn buggy he was operating was struck by a pickup truck at the intersection of state Route 39 and County Road 114 on Dec. 2 at 11:08 p.m.
John L. Erb, 66, Township Road 162, was transported from the scene by an East Holmes Fire & EMS Co. emergency squad to Pomerene Hospital in Millersburg.

WILLSHIRE, OH - An Amish family was injured Sunday evening when their horse-drawn buggy was struck by a van operated by a Wapakoneta man in western Van Wert County.
According to a spokesman for the Van Wert County Sheriff’s Office, a buggy driven by Marvin Schwartz, 28, of Decatur, Indiana, was traveling on state Route 49, north of state Route 81, at approximately 7:24 p.m. Sunday when it was struck by a vehicle driven by John Havill, 39, of Wapakoneta.

AMANDA, OH - Authorities say a car collided with a horse-drawn Amish buggy in central Ohio, sending at least four people to the hospital.
Investigators say children were among those hurt when the vehicles collided after nightfall Sunday on state Route 159 in Fairfield County near the village of Amanda, roughly 25 miles (40 kilometers) southeast of Columbus.

CHILLICOTHE, OH - One person is dead and another critically injured following a crash on Route 32 in Pike County involving a horse and buggy on Sunday evening.
According to the Chillicothe Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a call was received by the Jackson Dispatch Center at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday, December 3, after a horse-drawn carriage driven eastbound by Korie N. Swarey, 17, of Waverly, was struck in the rear by a 2014 Ford F550, driven by Cody T. Green, 23, of Colton, New York, who was traveling east on Route 32.

LANCASTER, PA - Two people were injured after a van rear-ended their horse-and-buggy in a Paradise Township crash late Thursday.
The buggy was traveling on the edge of the road in the 3300 block of Lincoln Highway East (Route 30) when it was struck from behind by a van, according to Paradise Fire Company Chief Pat Cosgrove.
The two, 17-year-old males in the buggy were hospitalized with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, Cosgrove said.

STAPLES, MN - The 17-year-old boy who was driving a horse and buggy that was hit by a semi-truck in northern Todd County has died, the Minnesota State Patrol reported.
David Miller of Staples was driving the horse and buggy west on Highway 210 between Hewitt and Staples on Thursday, Nov. 30. A semi-truck driven by Douglas Calkins, 60, of Deerwood, also was westbound and rear-ended the horse and buggy.

OSWEGATCHIE, NY - An Amish man in his mid-20s is dead after a car collided with his buggy on Irish Settlement Road in the town of Oswegatchie late Wednesday afternoon.
St. Lawrence County Coroner Kevin Crosby said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
State police investigators were still there as of late Wednesday night.

STRASBURG, PA - The 85-year old driver of a horse-drawn buggy has died after colliding with a pickup truck on a Pennsylvania roadway.
State police said Elam King died in the Friday morning crash in Lancaster County, about 65 miles (105 kilometers) west of Philadelphia.

VIROQUA, WI - A woman was injured when the pickup truck she was riding in struck a horse-drawn buggy Wednesday afternoon south of Viroqua.
The Vernon County Sheriff's Office said around 5 p.m. a pickup driven by Michael L. Welsh, 59, of rural Readstown was headed south on Highway 27 in the Town of Franklin when it hit an Amish horse and buggy. Welsh said he didn't see the buggy before the crash.

TOWN OF JEFFERSON, WI - A Viroqua man is accused of fleeing after striking an Amish buggy with his tanker truck Thursday afternoon in the Monroe County town of Jefferson.
Jacob Ketelsen, 29, was driving west on Hwy. 33 about 4:45 p.m. when he struck the buggy driven by Ruben Miller, 49, of Cashton, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department. The injured horse was euthanized.

TOPEKA, IN - Police say an 11-year-old boy was hit and killed by a vehicle in LaGrange County, according to our reporting partners at the Goshen News.
The driver was identified Monday as Eva Kurtz.
The LaGrange County Sheriff's Department says Kurtz was driving east on County Road 400 South, just west of County Road 700 around 6PM on Friday.

MADOC, ONTARIO - A man has been charged following an investigation into a collision Monday between an Amish buggy and a pickup truck in Madoc, about 90 kilometres east of Peterborough.
The pickup collided with the buggy on Slab Street near Douglas Road, just east of Madoc, at about 5:30 p.m. Monday, flipping the buggy and ejecting the passengers, Central Hastings OPP said.

HARTLY, DELAWARE – The Delaware State Police is investigating a crash that occurred earlier this morning involving a horse and buggy, according Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.
Jaffe said the incident occurred around 7:21 a.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 as a 25-year-old female from Hartly was operating a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox southbound on Pearsons Corner Road just South of Yoder Drive. A horse and buggy driven by a 51-year-old man from Dover was traveling directly in front of the Equinox and was subsequently struck in the rear. The horse fled the scene, however was located uninjured on a nearby farm.

WEXFORD COUNTY, MI - A 9-year-old boy is taken to the hospital by medical helicopter after emergency crews say the Amish buggy he was riding in was involved in a crash Friday morning.
A first responder at the scene tells UpNorthLive.com a semi-tractor trailer swerved to miss the buggy but hit the horse causing the buggy to flip over, pinning the 9-year-old underneath.

SHERIDAN, MI - At least three children were killed and six other people were critically injured after a driver in a pickup truck slammed into a horse-drawn buggy early Sunday in central Michigan, officials said.
The crash took place around 8:34 a.m. in Sheridan, located about 45 miles northeast of Grand Rapids, Fox 17 reported.
Michigan State Police told Fox 17 the pickup was traveling eastward when it struck the buggy and "demolished it."

LIMA, OH - The investigation into two fatal crashes from last weekend are close to completion.
The first crash occurred Friday October 13 when a car being driven by Kyle Burnett turned into the path of an eastbound motorcycle being operated on State Route 81 by Joel Hauenstein, of Ada. Hauenstein passed away at Lima Memorial Hospital.

WEBSTER COUNTY, MO - According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a truck hit a buggy Saturday around 7:45 p.m.
Officers reported the crash occurred in the Westbound lanes of Highway 60 NN in Webster County.
Two people in the buggy refused treatment, officials said, and no one was transported for injuries.

OSWEGATCHIE, NY - St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies are requesting help with finding a car involved in a collision with an Amish buggy, which happened around 11:40 a.m. Monday on State Highway 184, near the Losurdo Cheese Plant.
The car, which may be a grey or silver Chevrolet Impala made in the last 10 years, drove west and has passenger-side damage.

WEST SALEM, OH - The Ohio Highway Patrol and Town & Country Fire Department along with Town & Country EMS responded to a Motorcycle versus Amish buggy accident around 7:15 p.m. Sunday night on State Route 301 between West Salem and I-71.
Bradley Perkins, 47, of West Salem was riding a 2006 Victory Kingpin Motorcycle Southbound on State Route 301 when he struck an Amish buggy in the rear causing his motorcycle to go off the left side of the highway.

WHITEFIELD, MAINE - A sport utility vehicle rear-ended a horse-and-buggy on East River Road in Whitefield on Wednesday morning, causing damage to both vehicles but no injuries.
George C. Bronn, 40, of Whitefield, was driving a 2007 Chevrolet SUV north on East River Road at the time of the incident, according to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Kevin Dennison. Henry Miller, 24, of Whitefield, was operating a horse and buggy north on East River Road in front of Bronn.

LAGRANGE COUNTY, IN - A Shipshewana man was arrested after police said he was drunk when he rear-ended a buggy on a LaGrange County roadway Saturday evening.
Police and medics were called around 6:40 p.m. Saturday to North C.R. 1000 West near Shipshewana on a report of a crash that involved a car and buggy. According to a LaGrange County Sheriff’s Department report, 21-year-old Kevin Eugene Miller was headed northbound in a gray Chevrolet Avalanche when he rear-ended a northbound buggy.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol Crash Report, Thursday morning September 28, Glen Seger,53 of Hamilton was traveling Eastbound on Highway D when he stuck a horse drawn buggy from behind.
The buggy was being driven by Abraham Bontrager, 10, of Kidder. Also in the buggy were: Allen Bontrager 8; Susan Bontrager, 11, Jemina Miller, 13, Lydia Miller, 15, and Susie Miller, 11.

The bright yellow highway signs warning that horse-drawn buggies are sharing the road aren’t enough to prevent all accidents. With Amish communities expanding and automobile speeds increasing, collisions between cars and buggies are all too common.
For example, Delaware State Police are investigating the death of man and serious injuries to his wife following a hit and run crash on August 31, 2017. The Dover Post reported that 55-year-old Ervin Miller was driving a horse-drawn buggy when he tried to turn left into a store. A car hit the buggy, throwing Miller and his 55-year-old wife onto the road.

SALT CREEK TOWNSHIP, OH - Five people were taken to area hospitals this morning when the buggy in which they were riding was struck by a car that had attempted to pass it on the crest of a hill in Holmes County.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Levi Wengerd, 29, of Millersburg, and his four passengers were northbound in the buggy on state Route 241, north of County Road 189 at 9:32 a.m. when a car driven by Tina D. Yutzy, 20, of Millerburg, attempted to pass in a no-passing zone.
Yutzy’s car swerved back into the northbound lane to avoid oncoming traffic in the southbound lane and struck the buggy.

According to the New Wilmington police Department report, Mary B. PINEGROVE TOWNSHIP, PA - Authorities are searching for a driver who crashed into an Amish buggy in Pinegrove Township on Sunday night.
It happened around 8:35 p.m. on State Highway 157.

HELENA, NY - Three people suffered minor injuries but a horse had to be euthanized after a car struck a horse-drawn piece of Amish farm equipment Friday.
Helena rescue crews and state police were the first to report to the scene of the crash, which occurred when a car eastbound on St. Lawrence County Route 37 rear-ended the horse-drawn rake and rolled into a ditch, according to Helena Rescue Chief Steve Wilson. None of the victims was taken to the hospital, though the two boys on the rake suffered “some scrapes and bruises” and were treated on site.

EVERGREEN TWP, MI - A Snover couple in their 70s were thrown from a horsedrawn buggy late Friday afternoon when police say a car driver failed to brake in time and struck the buggy.

SANILAC COUNTY, MI - Three people were hurt and a horse died from its injuries after a buggy crash in Sanilac County.
It happened about 4:35 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18 on Germania Road near Robinson Road in Evergreen Township.
Investigators said a one-horse buggy driven by 77-year-old Eli Troyer of Snover was heading southbound on Germania Road with his passenger, 73-year-old Ida Troyer, when a 2016 Chevy Malbu hit the rear of the buggy.

HENDERSON TOWNSHIP, PA – One person was killed as a result of a crash involving two vehicles and a horse-drawn carriage Saturday in Huntingdon County, police said.
Police said the crash occurred at 4:54 a.m. along William Penn Highway in Henderson Township.
According to a police report, one vehicle was traveling west when it hit the rear end of the buggy. The vehicle then crossed over into the eastbound lane of traffic before exiting the roadway and going through the parking lot of a Kwik Fill convenience store.

ONTARIO, CANADA - The motorcyclist killed Thursday morning in a collision near Linwood has been identified as Paul Willfong, 31, of Perth County.
The motorcycle involved had been stolen in Perth County.
Speed is considered the main factor in the collision between the motorcycle and a horse-drawn buggy, but toxicology tests are being conducted, said Waterloo Regional Police spokesperson Cherri Greeno.

FREMONT, IN — A Michigan teen was airlifted from the scene of a Wednesday evening crash and a Fremont man was arrested for allegedly operating while intoxicated.
At around 9:30 p.m., a car driven by Brady Duvendack, 22, rear ended a horse-drawn carriage on Ray Road, south of C.R. 750N. All four occupants of the carriage were ejected.

BELMONT COUNTY, OH - Four people were taken to the hospital today after a van crashed into an Amish buggy.
It happened on Sandy Ridge Road in Belmont County. According to state highway patrol, a van rear-ended an Amish buggy after failing to notice it on the road. Those inside the van were not injured, but the four people inside the buggy were taken to the hospital with what officials say are non-life-threatening injuries. Residents hope drivers will pay more attention to the Amish when on the roads.

LOOGOOTEE, IN - A Sunday night accident in northeastern Daviess County involving a car and a buggy sent one person to the hospital and set off a multiple-county search that led to the arrest of one man.
The Daviess County Sheriff's Department has not completed the report but says the accident happened at 7:50 p.m. Sunday at 6565 N. CR 1200E. Deputies, firefighters and an ambulance responded to the scene where a car had struck a buggy and left four people with injuries. The sheriff's activity report shows that three of those people were treated at the scene. The fourth was taken by ambulance to Jasper Memorial Hospital.

WOOSTER, OH - Police in Ohio are searching for the driver who hit an Amish buggy, injuring a child and four others, before fleeing the scene.
Cleveland.com reports the crash happened Wednesday night in Wayne County. The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the buggy was knocked off the side of the road into a ditch.

Sgt. Todd Roberts said the buggy, carrying one adult and several children, was traveling southbound on state Route 539/Congress Road with the car behind it. The buggy was struck from behind, and the driver left the scene.

LA RUE, OH - A 62-year-old La Rue woman died Sunday after a car crashed into her horse and buggy outside of La Rue, according to the Ohio Highway Patrol.
Amanda M. Hopkins, 21, of La Rue, was driving a 2010 Honda CR-V north on Winnemac Pike south of Allen Road about 5:30 p.m. Sunday when she hit a northbound horse and buggy driven by Mary D. Petescheim, 62, of La Rue, in the rear, according to a release from the patrol.

BARRINGTON, NY - Yates County Sheriff's Deputies said they responded to a crash involving a car and a horse and buggy in the Town of Barrington around 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Deputies responded to State Route 14A near Ellis Road. The driver of the car was headed north when she struck the horse and buggy after it turned in front of her.

LANCASTER, PA - Five people were taken to Lancaster General Hospital this morning following a crash involving a horse and buggy at Route 340 and Meetinghouse Road in Salisbury Township, according to state police.
All five of the injured individuals were riding in a buggy when their vehicle collided with a white Chevy Malibu at the intersection of Old Philadelphia Pike and Meetinghouse Road, said James Spencer, Public Relations Trooper for the state police.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN – Two people were injured Tuesday morning after an SUV rear-ended a horse buggy in central Minnesota, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Authorities responded to the crash at about 6:44 a.m. on Highway 27 at Mile Post 104 in Little Sauk Township, which is south of Long Prairie. Officers learned a 2017 Chevy Silverado and horse buggy were both heading westbound on Highway 27 when the SUV failed to yield for the slower moving buggy and rear-ended it.

TOWN OF HANSEN, WI - Sheriff's officials say one person has died and two others have been injured in a collision between an Amish buggy and an SUV in Wood County.
Sheriff's Lt. Joe Zurfluh says the horse-drawn buggy was crossing Highway 73 near Vesper Monday night when it was struck by the SUV. Both people in the buggy were thrown out.

ALLEN TOWNSHIP, MI — Officers with the Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Office responded to a one-vehicle collision with an Amish buggy at 11:35 p.m. Sunday.
Officers were dispatched to Jonesville Road near Thompson Road with a report of multiple injuries.
Harlin Miller, 64, of Quincy, and his passenger Janine Miller, 63, of Quincy, was eastbound on Jonesville Road when the horse jumped into the west bound lane and went through the Millers’ windshield.

WESTBY, IL - Three people escaped serious injury in an accident on Sunday, June 25, in Westby, when an Amish horse and buggy traveling north on Main Street flipped after the horse was spooked by a southbound semi-tractor trailer causing the horse to bolt right, into a utility pole along the 300 block of Main Street.
Upon striking the utility pole in front of Premier Cooperative, the buggy flipped trapping three occupants inside, Marvin Schlabach, age 23; Ada Schlabach, age 23; and their 11-month-old daughter.
