PARKMAN, OH – A crash involving an Amish buggy in Geauga County sent several people to the hospital Friday.
Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers said the buggy, carrying eight people, pulled out of the Dollar General parking lot into the path of traffic on Route 422 in Parkman — a four-lane highway.

SALEM TWP, PA – Two people were hurt in a chain reaction crash that involved a horse-drawn buggy.
The accident happened about 5:58 p.m. Monday on Methodist Road in Salem Township.
Police say a buggy and another car were stopped side by side when a pickup truck crested the hill but was unable to brake in time. The truck hit the car which then crashed into the buggy.

RENO TWP, MI – The Michigan State Police (MSP) issued a citation for careless/negligent action to a pickup truck driver who collided with a horse buggy in Reno Township on June 12.
The incident occurred on M-65, near Carpenter Road, at 3:47 p.m.

An Amish man in Jefferson County got behind the wheel of his neighbor’s car and took a ride to a nearby bar.
That drive, according to ExploreVenango, was not exactly a smooth trip.
Officers with the Punxsutawney Borough Police Department were on patrol at 11:58 a.m. Saturday when they came upon a dark gray Nissan Rogue in a parking lot of a restaurant/bar on West Mahoning Street in the borough.

ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP, MI — A funeral home has identified three children who died in southern Michigan after the Amish horse-drawn carriage they were riding in was struck by a driver accused of being drunk.
Beams Funeral Home of Fremont, Indiana, identifies them as 6-year-old Lillian Graber, 4-year-old Moses Graber and 2-year-old Jacob Graber. Lillian and Jacob died at Friday's crash scene and Moses died at a hospital.

MANSFIELD, OH - A 67-year-old Shiloh man was listed in critical condition after a tractor-trailer struck a horse-drawn buggy Wednesday morning.
Ammond Troyer was taken to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after the crash, which happened at 8:54 a.m. at Ohio 13 and Lattimer Road in Bloominggrove Township.

MIDDLEFIELD, OH - Authorities say a motorcycle has struck an Amish buggy in Ohio, killing the man driving the motorcycle and injuring all four people in the horse-drawn vehicle.
A State Highway Patrol release says 26-year-old Brandon Lee, of Middlefield, died at the scene of the crash that occurred around 5 p.m. Tuesday in Geauga County's Parkman Township.

AUSTIN TOWNSHIP, MI — Mecosta County deputies are investigating a car-buggy crash that seriously injured a 9-year-old boy and sent a 17-year-old girl to the hospital.
The crash happened shortly before 8:30 a.m. Friday on Pierce Road near 140th Avenue in Austin Township, about 14 miles southwest of Big Rapids.

ST. CLOUD, MN — An Avon man is facing charges in connection with a December horse-drawn buggy crash that left two people dead.
The crash killed Robert Alois Keppers, 72, and Mary Joan Keppers, 66, both of Avon, according to a December press release from the Stearns County Sheriff's Office.

MONROE COUNTY, OH — A bad crash involving an Amish buggy sent three to the hospital on Wednesday.
The accident took place along State Route 800, just north of Woodsfield involving a father and his two girls.
"There was a Ford pick-up truck northbound behind the buggy when it struck the Amish buggy in the rear, causing both vehicles to go off the right side of the road. At that point, all three occupants inside the buggy were ejected from the vehicle," said Lt. Maurice Waddell, Ohio State Highway Patrol, St. Clairsville post.

BELLEVILLE, OH — Jakob T. Boring, 22, of Belleville, was charged Wednesday with one felony count for an accident involving personal injury and one felony count aggravated assault by vehicle after investigation determined he was responsible for crash in which members of an Amish family were injured.

MECHANICSVILLE, MD - On Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at approximately 8:10 p.m. deputies from the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 28100 block of Thompson Corner Road in Mechanicsville, for the reported motor vehicle collision involving a horse-drawn buggy.
The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit responded and continued the investigation.

DICKINSON COUNTY, KS - In what judges called a clash between different centuries, the Kansas Court of Appeals has overturned felony convictions for a woman who rear-ended an Amish buggy, killing a horse and injuring two boys, while she apparently was driving distracted by her cell phone.
“On a summer day on a straight and level highway in Dickinson County, the 21st century collided with the 19th century with near-tragic consequences,” the court ruling said.

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA– Update: The man involved in a hit-and-run crash involving a horse & buggy has been identified as Randy Hensel, according to State Police.
State Police say Hensel is in custody. He faces charges of accidents involving death or personal injury and accidents involving damage to attended vehicle as well as five summary offenses: failure to stop, give information and render aid, driving at a safe speed, reckless driving, failure to notify police of accident, injury or death and careless driving – serious bodily injury, court documents show.
SPARTANSBURG, PA — Three teenage passengers in an Amish buggy were injured in a crash at the intersection of routes 89 and 77 in Sparta Township in Crawford County on Sunday afternoon.
Pennsylvania State Police at Corry said that the three teens were ejected onto the road when the buggy’s right rear wheel was struck by a car driven by Gerry C. Williams, 53, of Grand Valley, just before 2 p.m.

SPARTA TOWNSHIP, PA — A crash between horse and buggy and vehicle that happened shortly before 2 p.m. in northeastern Crawford County is under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police at Corry.
The accident happened around 1:53 p.m. just west of Spartansburg at the intersection of routes 77 and 89 in Sparta Township.

MOUNT VERNON, OH - A 20-year-old was charged after a non-injury horse and buggy crash in Danville that allegedly involved alcohol.
Ervin A. Miller, Danville, was taken into custody after he had crashed the horse and buggy he was operating shortly after midnight on April 12. He was suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol, according to court records.

STANBERRY, MO - The second accident occurred at 8 p.m. on U.S. Highway 136, one mile west of Stanberry in Gentry County. The Highway Patrol said a Ford Fusion struck the buggy in the rear.
The driver of the buggy, 28-year-old Eli L. Shrock of Stanberry, was ejected from the vehicle was flown to North Kansas City hospital with injuries described as serious. The driver of the Fusion, 18-year-old Kiera D. Greer, of Stanberry, was not listed as injured.

ELKHART COUNTY, IN - A woman was injured and a horse died after a buggy was hit in Elkhart County.
It happened just before 8 a.m. Wednesday on County Road 126, near County Road 35.
Police say a 2005 GMC Savana rear-ended a horse and buggy. Both vehicles were traveling eastbound.

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA — A runaway horse dragging an Amish buggy damaged several cars in Clay Township Friday morning, according to Ephrata Borough Police.
Police believe the horse and buggy were waiting outside a Sharp Shopper store in Clay Township when the horse got free of its tether and ran off.

BLUFFTON, NY - An Amish buggy with five occupants was struck by a drunk driver north of Bluffton, according to the Fergus Falls Daily Journal.
Travis Rappatt, 38, New York Mills, was arrested for driving while intoxicated and criminal vehicular operation, after rear-ending the buggy with his car. When tested he had a blood-alcohol level of .23, almost three times the legal limit.

A man, woman and two young children in the buggy were taken to hospital. Their injuries were considered minor.

HOPKINSVILLE, KY — A horse was killed in a school bus and horse and buggy crash in Christian County on Monday afternoon. No people were hurt in the collision, WHOP reports.
Christian County deputies were called to Howard Dickerson Road a few minutes before 3 p.m. for reports of a crash involving a Christian County Public School System school bus and a horse and buggy.

OTTER TAIL COUNTY, MN - A motorist who was allegedly drunk crashed into an Amish buggy Thursday in northwestern Minnesota and is in jail awaiting charges, authorities said.
The 38-year-old motorist’s blood alcohol content was .23 percent, three times the legal limit for operating a motor vehicle, when he was arrested, the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office said.

LAGRANGE COUNTY, IN - A 12-year-old boy was injured Monday evening when the buggy he was in crashed with a semi.
The crash happened at around 7 p.m. on U.S. 20 at 300 East. According to police, the 12-year-old boy who was driving a horse and buggy didn't stop for a stop sign.

CRESCO, IA - A horse was killed and a man suffered serious head injuries after a vehicle struck a buggy Saturday afternoon in Howard County.
Authorities say the crash happened at 45th St. and Timber Ave. when a truck driven by 50-year-old Steven Jensen, of Cresco, struck a buggy that turned in front of him, according to the Howard County Sheriff’s Office. The occupant of the buggy, 23-year-old Phillip Yoder, of Cresco, was thrown from the buggy.

JOHNSON, WI – Two adults were seriously injured after a buggy and a truck collided Tuesday morning in the Marathon County town of Johnson.
According to the Marathon County Sheriff's Office, the crash happened around 9 a.m. on County A, just west of Corlad Road. The vehicles involved were a horse-drawn buggy and a delivery-type truck. Authorities did not say which of the vehicles were carrying the occupants who were injured.

It happened on Sunday evening at the intersection of Northfield Drive East and Highway 86 in Woolwich Township.
Police say the horse and buggy was turning left onto the highway when it collided with a northbound vehicle.

Herkimer County, NY - An Amish boy is recovering following a Horse and Buggy crash in Herkimer County.
According to State Police, 14-year-old Samuel Miller pulled out of a private residence operating the horse-drawn buggy.
As Miller pulled out, he drove into the direct path of a 2008 Chevy pickup being driver by 28-year-old Jeffrey Yaworski of Newport.

NEWPORT, NY - A 14-year-old boy was injured Friday evening when the Amish horse-drawn buggy he was operating collided with a pickup truck in Herkimer County, according to the New York State Police.
The crash occurred at about 8:35 p.m. in the town of Newport. Samuel Miller, 14, was operating the buggy and pulled out of a private residence located at 392 Honey Hill Road into the direct path of a 2008 Chevrolet pickup truck with a snow plow, state police said.

WOOSTER, OH - Authorities say a 17-year-old Amish girl driving a horse-drawn buggy has been rescued after the buggy was swept away by high water along a flooded rural road in northeast Ohio.
The Massillon Independent reports emergency personnel used an inflatable raft Thursday afternoon to rescue the teen who’d taken refuge on the buggy’s roof in Wayne County’s Sugar Creek Township. She wasn’t injured.

ROCKVILLE, IN- Werner Sultermann lives in Parke County and works as an Amish supply hauler. An accident last week scared Sultermann and others in the Amish community.
Saturday the Sheriffs office said a van rear-ended an Amish couple in their horse and buggy.
"Sadness. When we first heard about it Saturday evening we just really wanted to find out exactly which Amish family it was. We wanted to send out our prayers and best wishes for that family," said Sultermann.
Sadly, stories like this aren't new in Parke County. Every year the Parke County Sheriff’s office responds to accidents involving buggies on the road.

SOUTH HAVEN, IL — A Grand Junction man faces criminal charges after his van collided with a horse-drawn buggy, killing the horse and seriously injuring the driver in September.
Robert Samuel Rawson, 60, was arraigned last Thursday in Seventh District Court for the misdemeanor charge of moving violation causing serious impairment, according to a news release. If convicted he could face up to 93 days in jail and/or a fine up to $500. His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 5.

PARKE COUNTY, IN - A Rockville man faces a drunken driving charge after his car collided with an Amish buggy, sending an occupant of the buggy to the hospital.
Steve Williams, 57, was arraigned Monday in Parke County Circuit Court on a charge of operating a vehicle while intoxicated. He was ordered held under $10,000 bond pending further proceedings.

PRESTON, MN – The man arrested after a fatal collision with an Amish buggy is pleading not guilty.
Connor Louis Keene, 24 of Canton, is charged with four felony counts of criminal vehicular homicide, three counts of failing to stop for an accident involving injury or death, failure to notify police of a personal injury accident, failing to stop for a collision involving a driven or attended vehicle, and careless driving.

The crash happened Sunday around 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Northfield Drive East and Highway 86 in Woolwich Township.
Police allege the horse and buggy was attempting to turn left onto Highway 86 when it collided with a vehicle.

VAN BUREN COUNTY, MI — A man has been arraigned in court for causing a serious crash with a horse and buggy nearly four months ago.
On Saturday, Van Buren County Sheriff Daniel E. Abbott reported that Robert Samuel Rawson, 69, was arraigned Thursday in Van Buren County District Court on charges of a moving violation causing serious impairment.

Jason Dager, 43 of Dolgeville, has been issued a number of violations after the vehicle he owns crashed into a horse and buggy on Summit Road in the town of Newport.
