But Lasso, a 12-year-old chestnut standardbred, had an "unruly" moment Tuesday afternoon, and now Gingrich's buggy is busted up.

UFFOLK, VA — Police are investigating a crash involving a horse and buggy on Kings Highway and Nansemond Parkway.
A horse, attached to the buggy, was frightened by fireworks and ran into the road around 7:30 Saturday, according to Suffolk Police. Then, a vehicle ran into the carriage.

LONG LAKE, WI– Four youths were injured when an allegedly drunk driver rear-ended their horse-drawn Amish buggy on December 7. The driver has been charged with four felony counts of causing injury while intoxicated.
The collision occurred at 3:33 p.m. on Cty. Hwy. M, 893 feet north of north of Church Road in the town of Long Lake. According to the accident report, the buggy and a pickup driven by Robert C. Dulian, 67, of Sarona, were northbound on Hwy. M when the truck struck the buggy from behind, sending the truck into the ditch and the split apart buggy to the shoulder. One of the children fell onto the road and four others along the shoulder and ditch line.

LANCASTER COUNTY, PA - Four people were killed and four were injured in a crash involving a horse and buggy and a dump truck in eastern Lancaster County on Monday morning.
Fox43 is reporting the crash occurred around 7:50 a.m. at Little Britain and Black roads in Little Britain Township.

WASHBURN COUNTY, WI – A man was arrested Monday afternoon for driving drunk and rear-ending a horse and buggy injuring five children in Washburn County.
According to the Washburn County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened around 3:36 p.m. Monday on County Highway M near Church Road.

JEFFERSON, MAINE, ME — A horse pulling an Amish buggy was killed Wednesday night in a crash on Route 17 in Jefferson.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Brandan Kane says a pickup truck was headed east on the highway just after 5 p.m., near the junction with Route 32.

CHARLOTTE, MI — Prosecutors will not be filing charges against an 83-year-old Vermontville man who struck and killed three Amish children riding home from school in a horse-drawn buggy.
The man was driving west on Vermontville Highway near Ainger Road in September 2019 in Chester Township, between Vermontville and Charlotte, when he struck the buggy from behind, according to a press release from the Eaton County Prosecutor's Office. The State Journal is not naming the man because he has not been charged with a crime.

GEORGETOWN, NY - An Amish teenager was thrown from his horse-drawn buggy and killed when an SUV crashed into the vehicle in upstate New York, police said.
Rudy Hershberger, 17, was behind the reins heading south on Route 26 in the Madison County town of Georgetown around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday when a 2015 Chevrolet Equinox crashed into the back of his buggy, state police said.

TITUSVILLE, PA — A Spartansburg woman has been charged for a Sparta Township hit-and-run crash with a horse-drawn Amish buggy that seriously injured a young couple and their two children.
Lindsay Nicole Raines, 35, was arraigned Monday morning before Magisterial District Judge Amy Nicols in Titusville on multiple counts including four felony charges filed by Pennsylvania State Police.

BELLEVILLE, PA – Details have been released after an investigation into the crash involving a truck and horse and buggy on Route 655 between Belleville and Allensville Sunday night.
According to a report from Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown, at approximately 8:35 p.m., a Ford truck and a horse and buggy, were traveling North Route 655. Due to the dark and rainy conditions, the operator of the truck, Damien J. Robinson, 23, of Reedsville and a 17 year old female from Mill Creek were traveling at an excessive rate of speed and did not see the horse and buggy on the road.

LA CROSSE, WI - An 18-year-old Amish man was taken by ambulance to Gundersen Health Systems of La Crosse with life-threatening injuries from an accident Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened on State Hwy. 27, north of Traastad Road in the town of Franklin around 1:19 p.m. Sept. 10, according to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.

QUARRYVILLE, PA — A crash involving a pickup truck and a horse and buggy claimed the life of an Amish teenager and seriously injured three other people in Pennsylvania over the weekend, authorities said.
State police in Lancaster County said the crash happened during rainy weather on Route 372 east of Quarryville in Eden Township just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday, LNP newspaper reported.

GOSHEN, IN - Five people were injured in a truck-buggy crash near Millersburg Sunday night.
The buggy, driven by Michael Miller, Millersburg, rolled through a stop sign and was struck by a pickup truck driven by Jeremy Hire, Ligonier at East County Line Road and C.R. 800 South around 9:05 p.m., Elkhart County police said in a news release.

GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, OH - Four people were injured Sunday night when a car slammed into the rear of a horse-drawn buggy on U.S. 250, just north of the Ashland County line in Greenwich Township.
The Norwalk Post of the State High Patrol reported the hit-skip accident occurred at 9:48 p.m. Troopers said a 2000 Toyota Camry was southbound on U.S. 250, near mile post 19. It struck the rear of the horse-drawn buggy, which was carrying four people.

TAWAS CITY, MI - Five people were hospitalized after the horse-drawn buggy they were in was involved in a rear-end collision over the weekend in Iosco County.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police West Branch post were dispatched shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 16 to the area of M-65 between Anderson Road and Old State Road in Reno Township, west of Tawas City.

PENN YAN, NY - Seven New York family members, including four who were flown to a hospital, were injured Sunday evening when the horse-drawn buggy there were riding in was crashed into by a vehicle, police said.
Mathew Sensenig, 33, his wife and two children were flown to a hospital, while there other children were taken there by an ambulance, the Yates County Sheriff's Office said.

NEW YORK - Some people may still think you can only be charged with drunk driving if you're behind the wheel of a motor vehicle or boat. A horse-drawn carriage might not be the first thing you think of when you hear about a case like this, but that's exactly what happened early Sunday, according to police.
The Daily News says the crash happened near the New York-Pennsylvania border, when the 18 year-old Amish driver lost control, causing the carriage's occupants to be thrown on to the street. Chautauqua Today reports that the entire buggy ended tipping over, causing injuries to the horse.

GRATIOT TOWNSHIP, WI — A man died and a child was seriously injured after they were thrown from a buggy Thursday night during a crash in Lafayette County.
Deputies said the buggy was rear-ended by a pickup truck. The driver of the truck has been arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, according to a release from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office.

AKRON, OH - The youngest child involved in Wednesday’s Amish cart crash has died.
Seven-year-old Eli Troyer Jr. of Shreve died just before 4 a.m. Thursday in Akron Children’s Hospital, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The child was one of four kids traveling in a cart being pulled by a pony on Wednesday. The children were thrown from the cart when it collided with a pickup as the cart pulled from a private lane onto the westbound lane of County Road 329.

ARTHUR, IL — An Arcola man has died following a horse-drawn buggy crash in Douglas County.
According to Champaign County Coroner Duane Northrup, 82-year-old Jerry Otto died at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana on Tuesday, July 7, from his injuries sustained in the crash.

CANADOHTA LAKE, PA - A newborn baby, 1-year-old child and two adults are in serious condition following a hit-and-run crash involving an Amish buggy in Sparta Township, Crawford County, state police said.
The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. Sunday along Canadohta Lake Road near Route 89.

ERIE, PA - Four occupants of a horse-drawn Amish buggy were were injured after a hit and run crash involving the buggy and an SUV in Crawford County Sunday. This leaves residents of Spartansburg feeling a bit uneasy. This is one of the many crashes involving horse-drawn carriages that have happened already this year in places such as Altoona, Meadville, and now Sparta Township.
Residents of Spartansburg say their biggest advice to drivers is to slow down when they see a horse-drawn carriage and be especially careful at dusk and dawn, when the sun is the brightest.
