FILLMORE COUNTY, MN – According to Fillmore County Sheriff John DeGeorge, a horse pulling an Amish buggy was struck by a vehicle Thursday afternoon north of Canton.
It happened just before 4 p.m. at the intersection of Fillmore County Road 21 and 130th Street.
DeGeorge said the buggy, with four people inside, was heading east on 130th Street when it was hit by a pickup truck.

MARION, OH — A 14-year-old boy was killed after the horse and buggy he was driving crashed into the side of a train in Marion County Wednesday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
OSHP says the crash happened around 4:40 p.m. on County Road 5.

WILLIAMSFIELD — Four people were injured late Friday afternoon when the Amish buggy they were riding in was struck from behind by an eastbound vehicle on Route 322, east of Route 7, said Andover Fire Chief Matt Bush.
Bush said a father, and three of his children, a 16-year-old female, a 7-year old female and a 4- to 5-year-old boy, were taken to UH Geauga Medical Center after the 5:30 p.m. crash.

CADIZ, KY - A teenager and two Amish people were injured after they crashed in Trigg County over the weekend.
According to WKDZ, the crash occurred on Buffalo Cerulean Road near Wallonia Road on Saturday afternoon. A Trigg County Sheriff’s deputy said an 18-year-old in a car traveling south collided with a horse and buggy going in the same direction.

According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday, a female youth was driving a vehicle north on Blockville Watts Flats Road in the town of Harmony and collided with an Amish buggy traveling in the same direction.

ALGANSEE TOWNSHIP, MI – Five persons including four occupants of an Amish two-wheel wagon were injured in a Friday afternoon two vehicle crash on South Ray Quincy Road near Campbell Road.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the crash was reported at 2:17 p.m. when the southbound wagon was struck from behind by a 2016 Ford Escape driven by 63-year-old Jeanette Munson of Reading.

According to Punxsutawney-based State Police, the crash happened around 6:07 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, on State Route 119 in Henderson Township, Jefferson County.
Police say 32-year-old Sarah M. Hook, of DuBois, was traveling south in a 2018 Subaru Legacy when she failed to observe a horse and buggy operated by 26-year-old Benjamin M. Miller, of Punxsutawney, which was also heading south.

LOVEVILLE, Md. — A serious motor vehicle accident occurred on Loveville Road in the area of Busy Corner Road at approximately 7:50 a.m., on April 30, 2024.
Crews arrived at the scene to find a rear-end collision involving an Amish/ Mennonite buggy with two occupants injured. A 50-year-old woman was conscious but not alert, and her husband, a 50-year-old man, was also injured.

ADAMS COUNTY, IN - Monday morning just before 10:30 a.m the Adams County (Indiana) Sheriff’s Office said that a horse-drawn buggy was traveling south on CR 400 West a quarter mile south of State Road 218 when it was struck from behind by an SUV. The buggy was carrying six people, three of whom were taken to an area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened between a buggy and a Chevrolet Silverado at an intersection in Wilmington Township shortly before 9 p.m. on Sunday, according to a report from Pennsylvania State Police.

NORRIDGEWOCK — The driver of a vehicle that crashed into a horse and buggy Monday afternoon in Norridgewock has been charged, police said.
Brittany Guerette, 34, of Skowhegan, has been charged with misdemeanor driving to endanger as a result of the crash that injured both the horse and operator of the carriage, Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster said in a statement issued Tuesday evening.

MONTCALM COUNTY, MI — Michigan State Police are searching for a truck driver accused of hitting an Amish buggy, then driving off.
It happened around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday on Senator Rd., south of Carson City in Montcalm County.
Three girls, ages 13, 10, and 8, were riding the buggy at the time. All were treated at the hospital for minor injuries.

FILLMORE COUNTY, MN – The suspect driving the car in Friday’s Amish buggy crash was initially pulled over by a Fillmore County Sheriff’s Deputy and initially claimed to hit a deer, according to search warrants filed in the case.
According to the warrant, a deputy in Spring Valley pulled over the 32-year-old female suspect in Spring Valley after hearing of the crash. Her car had “substantial front-end damage with a passenger side headlight out and no tail lights.”

PRESTON, MN – The Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office has wrapped up its investigation into last fall’s deadly traffic crash that claimed the lives of two young Amish children.
Sheriff John DeGeorge confirmed to KTTC, on Thursday afternoon, the case is now being reviewed by the Fillmore County Attorney’s Office. DeGeorge said it’s now up to the attorney’s office to decided if any criminal charges will be filed in connection with the September 25, 2023, crash in Sumner Township.
WATERTOWN, NY - The driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a buggy - killing two Amish children - pleaded guilty Tuesday to two counts of criminally negligent homicide.
Charlene Kring of LaFargeville entered the pleas in Jefferson County court. She was placed on interim probation for one year. Kring will be back in county court after her one-year probation term is up for final sentencing, but assuming she has no further issues with the law, Tuesday’s plea and interim sentence likely marks the end of the case.
