More and more young people who have left the Amish are sleeping together and having sex before they are married. Wild parties and getting drunk seem to be the norm. Sadly, many who are involved in sex and beer parties even claim they prayed a prayer and got saved.

The last few months have been wild with the challenges, stresses, and hurdles that come with being a family of seven who are learning to grow and surrender to God's plan. Things can seem downright overwhelming as we all know very well, and it takes a lot of focus and determination at times to keep our spirits and courage up so we can keep going.

The first time I met Dan Byler, I knew right away he and I would be friends for life. He was a man on fire for God who burned with a passion to reach world for Christ. You see, he understood all too well what it was like to be lost and searching for true meaning in life. And he never forgot what it felt like when Jesus reached down from heaven, loved him unconditionally, forgave him of his sins and freely gave him everlasting life.

As Israel stood around the foot of Mount Sinai and waited for the law to be given, they experienced sights and sounds that were very frightening to a group of slaves that had just been freed. What a trip! Just a few days ago they had been serving Pharaoh and his slave masters. Now they were in the presence of the God of all creation!

Did you know there are as many different kinds of relationships as there are people? How can that be? Well, God is going to have a relationship with you that is tailored to meet your needs! His relationship with you, or your relationship with Him is going to be different from every other person's relationship with Him! That is how intensely personal our God is.

I went to visit an Amish friend in the hospital. While waiting to go into her room, I had an opportunity to talk with her husband and relatives, ultimately leading to a discussion about heaven. I shared with them how I was born again and how it freed me when Jesus came into my heart. As they listened, I could tell some disagreed.

I'm in bigger trouble than I have ever thought possible, as I look over my life, my marriage. I see broken pieces of glass all shapes and sizes. They overwhelm my soul and mind as I stand here looking so helpless into this tin can, digging through it getting cut and bruised. In desperation I cry-hot tears streaming down my face. What am I to do "Lord", I silently scream. I can't fix this. It's to broken.

When I was a child, I thought of God as a vague (unclear), faraway being who wanted something from me. To be honest, I was a bit confused. I knew there was a problem with sin, but that didn’t stop me and I really didn’t know how to stop doing the wrong that I did. So, I kept asking God to forgive me for my sins, hoping and praying that at Judgment He would remember that I asked for forgiveness, thinking that asking for forgiveness was the solution.

Has it ever crossed your mind as to how God is setting up heaven for all the different people groups who live on earth? Is He setting it up in such a way that in one area you have the English people; go a little further and you find the Hutterites; go a little further and find the Chinese, go a little further and now we come to the Amish section of heaven. Or do you think that once we get to heaven we will all live together as one big happy family?

Years ago when I was young in the faith, I became enthused about the gospel message as I understood it more and more. A young man in my Sunday school class came to me expressing how he thought I perhaps had found the key to faith. I pondered that because I had never thought of faith having or needing a key. The Bible says; Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11: 1)

Have you ever thought about how great our God is and just how much he actually loves us? We tend to imagine that he is a certain way and does things the way we are. We know it is wrong to create an idol and bow ourselves down to it, but how many times do we do that in our minds by imagining God to be a certain way? Too many times we tend to put God in a box or draw a line in the sand and say that God is inside these parameters. The next thing we know God is over there somewhere using a person that does not fit inside our box. And what do we do? Many times we write it off as from the Devil because, by the way, the Devil is powerful too.

More and more, we are all hearing about the rising number of sexual crimes. Counselors are crying out for help because of how many marriages are breaking up. Many sexual-abuse victims are seeking help-all because of the flood of immorality that is attacking our culture. It is not just happening in the "world," but it is out of control in almost every church or religious setting.

Few shipwrecks have held our attention as long as the story of the Titanic. On April 15, 2012, it will be 100 years ago since the tragedy of that fateful night occurred. Our ancestors came across the Atlantic Ocean on wooden sailing ships that were small and weak compared to the Titanic.

Thomas Edward Lawrence was born on August 16, 1888, in England. When Lawrence grew to manhood, he joined the British Military and soon became famous for his daring actions in Arabia. During the war, Lawrence formed close friendships with many of the LEADERS of Arabia, and, when the war was over, he brought some of these LEADERS back to England to show his appreciation for their support.

"Before faith came, we were under the law"-before Jesus' work on the cross was completed, all of mankind was under the law. The law, could be described as a person who is constantly watching over your shoulder, and every time you break a law, he points his finger in your face and cries: Law breaker! Guilty! Condemned! Judged! Failure!

For years I have had a secret fear there could be something wrong with me. Something wrong with my understanding of God, His love and His expectations of us as His people. It has been difficult to identify "it" but I am confronted with "it" regularly when I am open and honest with other believers who don't share my views. So, after numerous well meaning corrections over the years from fellow believers, I've learned to tone down my expression of the stirrings in my heart. I have also never been able to get away from "it'.

All over the world the value of blood transfusions is well known and accepted. After an accident, the victim is often rushed to a hospital where one of the most common treatments is a blood transfusion. Blood donor clinics proclaim that the gift of blood is the gift of life. Many of us have in fact donated blood to help those in need. Having a transfusion at the right time can make the difference between life and death. It is indeed a precious gift to a person in need of it.

When you realized you were a sinner and had no hope of a relationship with God without accepting the fact that His Son Jesus had to suffer and die to pay the price for your sin, you surrendered your life to His control, confessed your sins and repented-did you have a hard time believing you really are a new creation? Or did you feel like the same old person, especially when temptations came along and you succumbed to them?

Back in the years when I was growing up, dad bought a telescope. We would go on top of the hill and look around. Off in the distance was a barn with writing that we could ordinarily not read from the distance which was about 1½ miles away. With the telescope, we could read the writing which was an ad for a drug store in Millersburg. That was impressive to me. It made things look so much closer.

The hope of the Gospel is an amazing thing. In Hebrews 11:1 it says that faith is the substance of things hoped for... According to this scripture, hope is the foundation of faith. Psalms says, "Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God."
