Is Your Best Good Enough for God?
| July 1, 2012When I was a child, I thought of God as a vague (unclear), faraway being who wanted something from me. To be honest, I was a bit confused. I knew there was a problem with sin, but that didn’t stop me and I really didn’t know how to stop doing the wrong that I did. So, I kept asking God to forgive me for my sins, hoping and praying that at Judgment He would remember that I asked for forgiveness, thinking that asking for forgiveness was the solution.

Will Heaven Be Divided Up Into Sections?
| May 23, 2012Has it ever crossed your mind as to how God is setting up heaven for all the different people groups who live on earth? Is He setting it up in such a way that in one area you have the English people; go a little further and you find the Hutterites; go a little further and find the Chinese, go a little further and now we come to the Amish section of heaven. Or do you think that once we get to heaven we will all live together as one big happy family?

Get Into The Wheelbarrow!
| May 1, 2012Years ago when I was young in the faith, I became enthused about the gospel message as I understood it more and more. A young man in my Sunday school class came to me expressing how he thought I perhaps had found the key to faith. I pondered that because I had never thought of faith having or needing a key. The Bible says; Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11: 1)

How Great Is Our God?
| March 1, 2012Have you ever thought about how great our God is and just how much he actually loves us? We tend to imagine that he is a certain way and does things the way we are. We know it is wrong to create an idol and bow ourselves down to it, but how many times do we do that in our minds by imagining God to be a certain way? Too many times we tend to put God in a box or draw a line in the sand and say that God is inside these parameters. The next thing we know God is over there somewhere using a person that does not fit inside our box. And what do we do? Many times we write it off as from the Devil because, by the way, the Devil is powerful too.

How To Combat Sexual Addiction
| March 1, 2012More and more, we are all hearing about the rising number of sexual crimes. Counselors are crying out for help because of how many marriages are breaking up. Many sexual-abuse victims are seeking help-all because of the flood of immorality that is attacking our culture. It is not just happening in the "world," but it is out of control in almost every church or religious setting.
The Titanic
| March 1, 2012Few shipwrecks have held our attention as long as the story of the Titanic. On April 15, 2012, it will be 100 years ago since the tragedy of that fateful night occurred. Our ancestors came across the Atlantic Ocean on wooden sailing ships that were small and weak compared to the Titanic.

Who Is Greatest?
| March 1, 2012The more lowly your service to others, the greater you are. To be the greatest, be a servant. But those who think themselves great shall be disappointed and humbled; and those who humble themselves shall be exalted.

How Shall We Ever Please God?
| January 1, 2012One of the most interesting and inspiring explanations anywhere with regard to our new relationship in Christ is in Romans chapter 7 where Paul likens the walk of grace to a marriage scenario. But first we will visit briefly what law is like.

Trust Me, My Child

Law Moved Aside and Faith In Christ Stepped In
| January 1, 2012"Before faith came, we were under the law"-before Jesus' work on the cross was completed, all of mankind was under the law. The law, could be described as a person who is constantly watching over your shoulder, and every time you break a law, he points his finger in your face and cries: Law breaker! Guilty! Condemned! Judged! Failure!

There ARE wolves in the church that want you to shut up
| December 16, 2011For years I have had a secret fear there could be something wrong with me.
Something wrong with my understanding of God, His love and His expectations of us as His people.
It has been difficult to identify "it" but I am confronted with "it" regularly when I am open and honest with other believers who don't share my views. So, after numerous well meaning corrections over the years from fellow believers, I've learned to tone down my expression of the stirrings in my heart. I have also never been able to get away from "it'.

Expect Opposition
| November 1, 2011Ezra, Chapter 3-6, tell us: When the children of Israel turned their hearts back to the Lord and repented, they began to rebuild the temple that had been destroyed by the Babylonians when King Nebuchadnezzar had exiled them to Babylon.

The Power of The Blood
| November 1, 2011All over the world the value of blood transfusions is well known and accepted. After an accident, the victim is often rushed to a hospital where one of the most common treatments is a blood transfusion. Blood donor clinics proclaim that the gift of blood is the gift of life. Many of us have in fact donated blood to help those in need. Having a transfusion at the right time can make the difference between life and death. It is indeed a precious gift to a person in need of it.

The New Me
| November 1, 2011When you realized you were a sinner and had no hope of a relationship with God without accepting the fact that His Son Jesus had to suffer and die to pay the price for your sin, you surrendered your life to His control, confessed your sins and repented-did you have a hard time believing you really are a new creation? Or did you feel like the same old person, especially when temptations came along and you succumbed to them?

Salvation: Event Or Process?
| September 1, 2011Can a person know all about Jesus Christ, such as: He is the Son of God; He came to planet earth, died for their sins, rose the third day, went back to heaven and is coming again...and still be cast into the lake of fire at the end of their journey on earth?

Confess Your Sins And Be Healed
| September 1, 2011Why is it true that during times of struggle, we often look at those around us and believe they wouldn't understand what we are dealing with or would never struggle with something similar? I believe that way of thinking is very likely to be one of Satan's most effective tools in bringing condemnation and discouragement to God's children.

Telescopes And Microscopes
| September 1, 2011Back in the years when I was growing up, dad bought a telescope. We would go on top of the hill and look around. Off in the distance was a barn with writing that we could ordinarily not read from the distance which was about 1½ miles away. With the telescope, we could read the writing which was an ad for a drug store in Millersburg. That was impressive to me. It made things look so much closer.

The Hope Of The Gospel
| September 1, 2011The hope of the Gospel is an amazing thing. In Hebrews 11:1 it says that faith is the substance of things hoped for... According to this scripture, hope is the foundation of faith. Psalms says, "Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God."

What Does The Bible Say About Paying Taxes
| September 1, 2011What did Jesus teach his disciples about paying taxes? We will see that the Bible is very clear on this issue. If you read Matthew 17:24-27, you will learn that even Jesus paid taxes: The Bible says, when Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the tax collectors came to Peter and asked, "Doth not your master pay tribute (taxes)?"

Do Not Harden Your Heart - Hebrews 3:7-13
| July 15, 2011Paul starts Heb. 3:7 by writing, Wherefore as the Holy Spirit says... and then quotes Psalms 95:7-11. By quoting Old Testament scriptures to these New Testament Christians, Paul is making it quite clear the Holy Spirit still speaks to us today from the Old Testament. In fact, in 1Cor. 10:1-11 he tells us the things that happened to the children of Israel while they journeyed in the wilderness were ...written for our admonition...
Facing The Storms of Life: Anchored In Jesus
| July 1, 2011When the storms of life threaten to overtake us, anxiety and fear arise. We might not see the course before us. Blinded by worry, we can't see the spiritual blessings God has enroute. Satan stirs these fears, paralyzing Christian progress.
Of Garments and Bad Apples
| July 1, 2011If we had a few barrels of apples and put them into cold storage at perfect temperature and humidity, sooner or later one apple would rot. Then another and another until they are all affected. As you have heard said, one bad apple will rot the whole barrel.

Drawing Lines In The Sand
| July 1, 2011A young man died and went to Heaven. He had only recently become a Christian, but not a member of any particular church, so St. Peter showed him around the heavenly mansion. In one room were people sitting in quiet prayer. These were the Amish. Down the hall were people shouting in every language. These were the Pentecostals. On and on they went until Peter suddenly held his finger to his lips, and said Shhhh,"we have to be very quiet going by this room." "Why? the young man asked."

God Has A Plan And Purpose For You
| July 1, 2011Paul said, For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Eph 2:10 This indicates that before we were born God had a specific plan for us but in the previous verses he is saying that we can not be saved by these good works. We must first be born again in order to fulfill the plan he has for us.
How Deep Will You Let The Arrow Go?

Does God Speak to Us Today?
| June 8, 2011This reasoning is; I hear from God myself, I don't need any man to tell me how and what "my God" has for me. I find this kind of statement terribly prideful and arrogant. Now hear me, I am not saying people don't hear from God, I know they do, I sometimes do myself. However, I am not infallible, I may get it wrong, maybe I am emotional, stressed about something, bottom line is if I think I heard from God, I better test it, with the word of God first of all, the Holy Spirit will never give you something that does agree with scripture and point you to Jesus, for the glory of God.
